I think it was the fault of a poor track design as much as the other driver's. The way the barriers were laid out was very dangerous. RIP

That's insane...
Those concrete guards should not have been there. RIP

atleast he wasnt going as fast as they do in the Nextel/Sprint series, imagine what would of happened if he hit it doing 180mph... RIP

Some of you guys must not watch racing very often. The 2nd place guy CLEARLY backed off. The leader was trying to block him. But even when teh 2nd place guy backed off the leader still clipped the front of his nose. Thus sent the leader around. Watch WAAAA-scar (USA style) and you will see a ton of that. Even at dirt tracks that happens. Nobodys fault but maybe the spoter(if there was one) and/or the leader... Bad judgement to block someone and he lost his life for it. I am sorry that he died dont get me wrong, but you would have to know racing to understand. From my 30 years of it, "it happens"... Dale Earnhardt... anyone know him? Had the air taken off his spoiler and died cause of it. Everyone blamed Swervin Marlin... Marlin never touched him...

I don't blame the 2nd place guy and I feel sorry for him because you know he has to feel terrible. This happens every weekend in nearly ever form of motorsport. You're getting down to the final laps and the 2nd place guy makes a move under the leader to try to take the position. The leader comes down to block and they get together. 99.99% of the time it results in a relatively harmless spin. This time it happened to be in a spot on the track where there was very poor design. Unfortunately, accidents like this happen from time to time but ultimately it leads to new safety rules, innovations, designs, etc. After Dale's death we saw the mandatory use of the HANS device in NASCAR. Shortly after Adam Petty and Kenny Irwin's deaths the SAFER barrier was developed. It is a complete and utter tragedy that this guy died but in no way did it look intentional to me. If anybody knows racing well enough you can see when the #2 driver goes low and gets a nose under the leader and then the rear end of his car steps out a little meaning he was hard on the brakes. Was the move aggressive? Sure. Was it an intentional move to wreck somebody? I don't think so. How many times have the rest of us been racing in any series and you're aggressively passing your competitors. Sometimes you bang bars or fenders and nothing happens and nobody thinks anything of it. What if you'd bang bars with someone and they fall off their ride and are killed? Would we call it intentional murder?

Tragic incident .. but as said by others ... this will only lead to new and improved rules, devices and layouts.

That is a crazy crash... That guy is lucky it hit on the passenger side.. I don't see them giving the race to the guy just because he crashed though...
