i have a raptor that i'm planning on trading in and buying a 450 or an outlaw, but i don't know wt 450 to get? i'm leaning over to a ds450xc or a yfz450r. i don't know if there going to be a let down from the raptor but if there goin to be i'll be looking at an outlaw 525.

your looking at a 450XC and a YFZR?
those are about as different as it gets, what will you be riding?

nice argument

all we can say is go out and ride all the different ones you can, then decide which is best fit for you. keep in mind how wide the trails, or wherever you ride is. you dont want a MX width quad when your gunna be bouncing off of tree's :D

trx450r is like 2" wider than the z400 and kfx, i believe

if you do get a 450 get something tht is reliable. polaris has reliability issues along with KTM and can-am.:D

Do some research... Every 450 offers you something a little different. If you plan on playing around in the trails, the YFZ450r might be real tight in some spots. If your out in the open or on the track, the YFZr and LTR's would be much better.

Your best bet is to see if you can test ride any of them. But if you got the dough, KTM would be my first pick!

I think the new YFZR is a pretty sweet bike, but it is kinda wide for the woods. If you do plan on doing much woods riding, you might wanna steer clear from it. And I'm not doggin the raptors, but a 450 isn't going to be a let down in anyway except maybe top end power, and not by much.

if your gonna be doin XC, the Standard YFZ or the KTM gets my vote BY FAR!

for MX, the YFZ-R, or the LTR gets my vote!

Forget DNF-Am and Honda.

trx's have a horrible history honda hasn't changed much on those quads and the frames r junk. my friend races trx's and he is always replacing his frame and my friend broke his frame just beating it.

actually there are no reliability issues with the can-am unless you get a 2008 model.

We're talking about stock engines here, not fully built pro engines...

you realize that the top speed doesn't really indicate power don't you? Its mostly about gearing.

Anyway, The Ds450 is a great choice. I'm not aware of any problems that Can-am did not fix with the 2009 model. I love everything about mine, I used to have a raptor prior to getting my DS. the handling is excellent. I ride in the woods alot and have had no problems with it. The power is delivered very well for woods riding. The only bad part is getting aftermarket parts.

so... theres not as much done to those motors as people think. motors should be able to stand up to as much as people can throw at them. if it cant, they need to go back to the drawing board.

Good point but they all have good acceleration . just go with your gut feeling. they are all sweet rides in one way or another. type of riding places is also a factor, good luck with your choice.

for xc money being no option id say the ktm, 2nd the old style yfz, 3rd the kfx 450r then the honda 450 the yfzr and ltr arent that great to where id want to narrow them up and put them in a gncc race

For xc, best quad right now is the original yfz. And get a gt thunder revalves, skids, 6 ply tires, and a kill switch are you have an awesome xc quad. I ride a 450r I like the seating position better I am kind of tall for the yfz

It's all on opinion, I mean i have a 2007 trx450r and i ride freestyle on it, bottomed it out many many many many times and i have no stress cracks and no frame problems. Im still on stock top and bottom ends, even stock valves and still no problems.

I love my bike and Im a honda guy. The new quads that are out now are different really in small ways when compared stock for stock. Its almost at a point where how you feel on the bike is the difference instead of the quality of the machine.

So what i would do is definitly try to either test ride or just go and sit on a few different bikes too see how comfortable you feel on them. Just make sure you are buying the correct model, you dont want an xc bike for moto and vice versa.

Just remember every bike has their problems and everyone has an opinion but when it comes down to it the only opinion that matters is yours.
