Do you still use the rectifier? Do you still use the 3 wire clip to the carb?

i dont have the regulator/rectifier on the quad at the moment, but i plan on putting it on when i get something requiring power, im not going to say what cause my competition browses this forum too.

ya the tps is still wired in.

the highlighted wires are the only ones that you need.

i already have it stripped down following that diagram... and it already had the key and some other things cut off of it when i got it so im kindof lost onhow to wire a killswitch back into it now

which color wires are you wiring the killswitch into.. and also, I am using an 05 CRF450 carb that has a triangle TPS plug on it and the harness from the TRX is a flat style, and the wire colors are different. Could anyone tell me what is what....

Thanks
Chris

i pmd pro-rider46 about wiring a killswitch into a trimmed harness and heres his reply

you can either splice into the black wire with a white stripe right off the cdi, and then ground the other side of the killswitch. or you can buy some 1/4" spade connectors, and put a male, and female spade connectors on the red side of the killswitch, and put the female connector on the male connector of the coil. then put the male connector from the killswitch into the female connector of the wiring harness, then ground the ground side of the killswitch to the frame where ever you want. its all preference. both work good.

What is the plus's to simplifying you wiring harness? I mean does it really help they way your quad runs or is it just to make things easier to work on?

just makes it cleaner, less chances for problems since you can eliminate alot of pieces. i do mine but i leave all the fan and everything in it, i just get rid off all the excess wires for lights and everything

Is it pretty easy to do? I dont wanna get into a mess

if you dont know how to read a wire diagram then dont do it, it looks like everyone just logs online, reads something and then goes and hacks theirs apart and wrecks it. if you understand wire diagrams 100% then go for it. but most people cannot. i dont get why people think they know everything after they read 1 post.

So this will work to wire a Pro Armor kill switch? i have no key switch either, the whole dash was removed.

Thanks

What did you have to do with the on/off switch? I am looking to clean up my harness and bars some, and want to get rid of it.

I want it so I can turn on the key, grab the clutch kick it over.

How do you shut the bike down? Just stall it? Turn the key off?

I have the 06+ and the 04/05 service manual posted HERE (http://450rtech.com/forums/index.php?/topic/10-usefull-links-and-downloads/)

I also have a thread for a tether switch install in there too... I use a Pro Armor but they all wire up the same.
HERE (http://450rtech.com/forums/index.php?/topic/38-tether-kill-switch-installation/) it is...

You might have to sign up to the forum to view the thread...

sounds good! because in the 3 weeks i have been looking on the 450 subforum and have had a 450r, it doesn't seem like there are many people looking to give up any info  at least compared to the 400ex forum on here. :p
