is it really worth it?? how much hp does it add. is there a BIG change in throttle response and power. i ordered a 13t front sprocket tonite and im not sure if i need the extra power . i use the 400ex for trails (of ALL kinds), logging roads, and wheeling. what do you think????
P.S. IM POWER HUNGRY!!!

this is the one mode you should do, it gives more balls to the motor, its snappier throttle response and different intake and exhaust sound

thats because you failed lol seriously you did something wrong. just install the key. Many have done it already there are countless threads on it. Its a good mod.

I'm going to be installing mine here soon. I thought I read somewhere that you also need a 30mm, or some size, socket to install it. Is this right? It didnt say in the write up.

No, sir, I did not do anything wrong. My flywheel was sitting flat, AND TURNED TO THE LEFT, not cocked like Sparks said. I would rather just buy a cam and a piston than waste my time putting this POS key in.

why would your flywheel be cocked? also I'm pretty sure you turned it the wrong way having the flywheel sit on the wrong side of the key making it stock timing.

so you are gonna go against all the people that say it increased power? goodluck to you, seems like you did something wrong in the install, and btw if u get a cam and you have the sparks timing key, they work together, creating more power.

Sparks said my flywheel wasn't sitting all the way down, but it was. And once again, I did not install it wrong. Red tip away from the engine. Never said I was going against anyone, just didn't see any difference with it.

Dont worry man it happens, My 400 actually responded worse to the 450R carb mod. most ppl get a good throttle response out of it but me it hurt it and now back to stock lol.

I guess some things you just never know. I think some things are more in the head like I paid for this so it should be giving me more power. I've been curious about the 450r carb mod.

Lol yeah I had a few jump me over it but if it aint improving my quad im taking it off I sold it on ebay for like $70 made $20 out of it and got to test it out cant beat that.
The carb thing for most seems to be a good install and one good thing about it there is always someone els wanting one so if it dont work for you you can get your money out of it man.
The key worked great for me, sucks it didnt for you but not every motor is the same.
That is my next thing im just trying to decide to stay with a std bore or go over a bit lol.
