This summer I am going to start a project quad. I am planning on buying a older banshee for under $1000 and fix it up to get it running strong then as time goes on I will hop it up.
My Question is what would be the main things that i would have to rapair ot replace to get it running strong?
Have any of you ever done a project like this before?
Thanks
:D

i would think u might need to change the pistons/rings, check for anything leaky or squeky....maybe tires, brakes, or suspension....then again, i have never done this before, but thats what i would check for:) what mods do u plan for it? nerfs, bigger bore, elka's, pipes???:D

a friend of mine did the same thing. a 900 dollar banshee in a box basically. he tore it down to nothign and rebuilt what was bad. he needed new pistons, rings, a fresh bore, painted the frame, new bearings and seals, make sure the frame isnt bent, and replace bent steering stems or swingarms or stuff like that. if you got hte money its great. but remember, you can dump 15k into a project bike and see only 7k when you resell it. make sure its worth 15k

yeah mine isn;t going to be anything great. I will do what it needs and maybe get a few upgrades like pipes and filter. But other than that the main porpose of the project is to keep me busy over summer vacation.
It is not ment to be raced just a bike to go fast on and I will use the Z400 for the trails.:D ill keep you posted.

if i were you id go through the top end pc the frame a arms ect then if you got the money tires then pipes and filter. Then if your rich get some elkas. one thing to look out for with buying older banshees is the j arms. Not sure weather or not you wnat those might want ot look for somehting a lil newer so u dont have any of those

I believe j-arms went to 91, and 92 was the first year for A-arms
