I just got the shocks that come with the racer support program and I can't figure out what the purpose is for the tiny cheeze ball spring above the main one. The big spring just bounces up and down unless you have the small one crushed. Whats the need for having a crushed spring???

It is the preload spring.

That stupid top spring dose nothing .It is useless you cant back off on the adjustment or you will loose the main spring! so just bottom it out till the main spring wont fall out and set it !

they actually do alot if you understand how suspension works. the main spring is softer then the littler spring above it. this is to get a plusher ride, and then the spring on top is most likely quite a bit stiffer to PREVENT bottoming out.

it makes sense if you think about it. this is where the terms, dual rate and triple rate come in( i think atleast i never really bothered to research that)

no, the tiny spring is soft enough to collapse with your thumb and index finger. with the length of the main spring there is very little adjustment left for pre-load.

I tired to post a pic but the file was too large. Off topic but is there a function on here to shrink a pic file?

Lol the only purpose of the spring is to lower the quad without having the main spring go loose. Its a zps spring. It does serve a purpose. Allows you to lower the quad to mx specific heights.

Needless to say its there for a reason, and a good one. ;)

I thought it likely had a purpose. What do you mean it allows you to lower the quad? if it wasn't there and the threaded adjuster could go lower would it be any different than having the little spring there?

No if the spring wasnt there the main spring would go loose when you lowered it. It keeps tension on it.
