my buddy sent this to me, just thought I'd share it here,
watch it till the end, and you can see it in slow motion.

I guess he didn't use the HD head studs ! LOL!!!

I cant imagine that happening right in front of you. With the amount of boost those things run i'm surprised that doesnt happen a lot more often.

so i guess the trouble i went through to install those hd studs was worth it.. i hope i never run over my own engine lol. good post.

that would sure freak me out!

them pulling tractors are very common to blow motors like that. they are putting such high amout of boost on a diesel engine and high compression ratios. its very common ive seen it happen before but good post

hd head studs wouldnt have matterd anyways im betting he was putting over 50lbs of boost in that motor

i'd be very surprised if he was running anything under 60lbs

yea those turbos are pretty massive. i wonder what that motor consisted of. i bet it was a very high compression motor too. a turbo that big would require alot of exhaust gasses

i bet he is running well over a hundred pounds of boost, i was talking to a guy that had a nice tractor but much smaller than that, and has the original engine in it. and he turbo'd it and it make about 90 psi.

i used 60 as a base because thats average boost for the guys tinkering with their trucks around here, the turbos on those tractors are hugeeee stock and i believe the smallest number i've heard of boost wise on something like it is in the high 80s....and yes tc, the large turbo would take a decent amount of exhaust to spool, but those motors are not exactly small lol

My stock 6.0 powerstroke spikes around 29lbs of boost. Those turbos were huge, that thing is definitely pushing 100psi or somewhere close to it. People who put after market twins on there diesel trucks boost in the 60s, so imagine a tractor. Sick vid

Tractor pulls are definately not my area of expertise, but I would imagine that guy had 4 turbos, and probably more like 220-250 lbs of boost.

lmfao when he runs over the engine

Thats just a pro stock tractor, I went to a tractor pull like that and they run around 4-6 turbos winding out around 10-12k takes like 2 minutes for them to spool up. They usually push around for that tractor around 6000-8000 hp. The unlimited modified tractors well lets just say if you dont wear ear plugs you wont have to listen to anyone anymore, but they push 10-18k hp and run tubines, radial motors,2-3 v24's, 6-8 v8's, v12's you name they run it, usually they run on alky .

Sorry tractor pulling is pretty common here.

Here's another one except its a Super stock one

you should push close to if not more than 60 on a tuner with that truck, you can also buy slightly larger turbos for most diesel truck engines that run in the 60psi range with no modifications.

No. You will lift the heads at about 35-40psi(sometimes even less) on a 6.0(unless you have ARP's). The stock turbo won't hold up to that much boost on the 6 liter.

As for getting 60psi with no other mods? How do you figure? You gotta add fuel to that air. You couldn't get enough fuel from the stock injectors.

The 6.4 will boost up to about 55 with just a Spartan, Intake, DPF delete.

idk bout the ford but i know my step dad has a stock duramax with just an edge and its only pushing 26lbs of boost and thats on extreme

when you get in the higher boost numbers you need injectors, lift pump, and fuel pumps to get the fuel to the motor faster

No way, you defanetely need a bigger turbo or twins for that. Plus like j_cyrus3 said you will lift the heads under that kind of boost. 60 psi is a lot, stock it can hold constant mid to low 20s and thats pretty good. In the 60psi range you start getting into so me serious money, injectors and all that are expensive. Not to mention the 4-5k turbo set up you would have to buy.

ya thats nuts, pretty sure those are both alcohol pullers, my bud has 2 pro stock diesel's, heres a vid of some diesel power!!!

alright seems like a lot need a turbo lesson. PSI doesnt mean a thing for power. Its size for power. Lets use a car motor, a small turbo on 15PSI can make 200HP, a big turbo on 15PSI can make 500HP and make that same 200HP with say 3PSI. Its how much air is flowing power is not measured by pressure but flow rating. Most likely if you see a car running a very high number of boost its a small turbo. Something people need to understand. I see people say damn they are running 20PSI that thing has to fly. yeah on a very small turbo which is why they have such a high number. If you ran 60PSI on a T3/04E turbo which I dont think is possible for a car engine to not grenade or push that much it would be an unbelieveable amount of power calculating that would be 1000's of HP.

and remember diesels are somewhat opposite of gasoline motors. diesel motors love to add more air to a lower amounts of fuel when compared to a gasoline motor.

This is how a little jetta tdi can boast almost 50mpg and FlewByU352 i agree with you on the boost lesson, its all about flow baby!
