I have a friend who wants to sell me his 89 kx125 for $400. The Problem is that he got the mixture wrong and the cylinder is "scored." Im not too familiar with this term so could someone help me out? What does it need and how much will it cost? Thanks

You need a bore job, if ur lucky maybe a hone, so you will need piston/rings, bore job, and gasket kit, looking at 150.00 bucks or so w/o labor

it would be worth it, redoing top ends is a piece of cake on those 125s, all you do is take off the top, have if bored 20 over or so, but a new top end and put it back together the way you took it apart, my bore was 40 bucks and my top end kit was like 120 so your talking under 200 bucks and it took me about an hour

Wow. So for only 600 bucks I could have another running kx125?? oh, and what does scored cylinder mean?

Scoring is when the cylinder wall is scratched deep... This is caused by dirt in the cylinder, piston to cylinder being to tight which will heat up and roll or flake pieces of aluminum off the piston and scratch the cylinder wall... Hope this helps....

I say you buy it and get the top end redone and you can have a bike for a good price.. as long as the rest of its not a crap bike.

Don't put no more money into after this becuase you might not get what you put in it so you lot money..

Kx's use a nikasil liner so you may or may not be able to bore it. you may need to install a new sleeve but check with your local machine shop.

www.rockymountainmc.com sells plastic for cheap. If you sell the old plastic on ebay you can make a bike look new for cheap.
