i got the 300ex all back together from completely restoring it. now im not geting spark. i tested everything and i have power everywhere, its in time... i didnt do much with the motor except put new gaskets everywhere without splitting the case. does anyone have any suggestions of what else i should look for or double check for? all replies will be greatly appreciated. thank you

no, i bein double checking every little connection. and i found a couple breaks in sum wires, but thats not the problem. im gettin so aggravated with my wiring that i about ready to just go buy a whole new wiring harness. only thing i havent checked was my stator and brushes.

Doubt it is the stator. I was talking to a mechanic at a local shop and he said in 15 years he has only replaced 2 stators on a 300ex. Never heard of the brush thing until now though.

I have checked cdi, stator, and the wire for the plug. I did find bad ground on my battery and that my key was not giving the bike constant power. Fixed the ground bypassed the key and still nothing. I have heard words that there are some wires on the brake side of the case that are loose a lot? My bike doesn't have any wires running down that side. Idk any help would be great.

theres wires on mine... its kinda behind the brake lever. and i hear that u can bypass those connections on the motor by just grounding them out to the frame..... i tryed it... still didnt work. i think wen i get my next paycheck, im just gunna take it to the shop. and ill hav my mechanic tell me wats up with our machines.

Is this sh*t common with other quads? It seems like I only hear it about the 300ex and 250x. Every other quad it seems like a simple fix.

If you want i could help you guys out the only thing is you would have to find a way to get it to my shop. Ive had tons of spark problems with my quad and have figured them all out within two days. Im in ohio also, Might be more of a hassel to bring it to me if your far away and would coast less to take it to another mechanic.

any good riding out your way? me and my buddy normally go to hillsville and wellsville. but if its worth riding out there then i can load up the 300ex on the trailer and head on a road trip to ashtabula.

Lots of places to ride. Also home to the "fastest" tt track in the U.S. Or so I have been told. Pine Lake. All my friends sold their quads and bought motorcycles, so I am just trying to fix my piece up and follow suit.

I usually charge 15 and hour, but i can cut you a deal. I can charge you 15 till i find the problem then 10 an hour till its fixed, Then i will go through and make sure its is fixed and will work with no problems. It will prolly be 2 hours at the most to figure it out and do the final checks. Let me know if you want me to do that.

UPDATE: Went over the wiring again and cut out the excess(lights). Found a couple wires that were not connected or were looped before from the CDI. Still not getting spark. Messed with the wires on the brake side by the case. Imagine that spark and quad starts right up. Now it just won't idle but that would be another issue.

finally, i followed every single inch of wire on my bike. i dont use a key for my quad, i got my own set of toggle switches and followed them and found a clip that wasnt connected, found the wire, and now guess what... i got spark and my bike fired right up.
i think i gotta do sum valve adjusting tho... wats the exhaust and intake specs? any1 know?

8 out of ten its the cdi or the big gray plug in the wiring harness take apart and make sure its clean check all grounds
