a 8 inch long 2 inch wide gash from the bottom to the top end of the right side cylinder in a twin cylinder 2 stroke snowmobile engine would it be cheaper to buy a new engine or rebuild the old(it needs rebuilded any way) ? Im leanin towards a new engine... could u guys help me out, i dont kno who else to ask...

Just bore it out and get new sleeves installed. And out of curiosity, what caused the problem?

Where did the gash come from. The piston musta done some major damage.

im guessin the connecting rod broke and swung around and cut the gash or sumthin, since the piston went thru the top and left a good size dent in the hood... u guys got any suggestions at to wut happened???

I take i back, if the piston did that much damage, find new cylinders for it, or a new engine from the same engine.

but could u give me segggestion as to what a could brand name cylinder is, and where i could get them from? could this have happened from not mixing the gas and oil right?
