welding up cracked swingarm?

hey, i just cracked my swingarm in my 400ex yesterday. i was wondering if anyone had tried to have theirs welded up? i really do not want to spend $550 on a new aftermarket one, any info will be greatly appreciated, thanks

why not just buy one from the classifieds or ebay? used ones are running less then $100...ive seen them go for less then $50:eek:

I've welded my CR's several times now. They seem to hold up good enough if you do a good job, but i have to redo mine after race season every year.

It can hold up if u re-inforse the piss out of it...But ur talking about alumminum its weak period,id just go buy a RPM or Lagers

I had a stock swingarm welded and about amonth or so later it cracked right threw the weld. So i would say get another used stock swingarm and don't jump as hard, or get a aftermarket one and don't worry about it.

Back when i had the 230s, we welded the swingarm in a few spots. And it didnt break or nothin the whole time we had it. maybe it was a dif material? idk.

Don't waste your time having it welded, it will break again. Get another one. They're always on E bay. Check out the EX riders parts section.

got Aftermarket one for sale. $400 used about 2 days.

Most don't realize the 400ex swingarm is cast aluminum,,which makes it more difficult to weld,,,you'll keep breakin them so bite the bullet and get ya a good one..

I just bought that Swing-Arm that was on Ebay a few days ago (The Walsh one) I got it for $140 but it's been cracked,but Walsh Himself fixed it,so since I don't really MX much,and am more of a XC rider,will it crack again easily?

Also its a 1.5,how do them 1.5+ swinger's help the EX?

alumminum is weaker? some one better tell balance before he breaks his frame! cast is tough to weld, but it can be done. but i'd buy a used stock one. look for one off a 2000 or 01. don't spend more than 100.
