pilot jet length

i went to the local honda dealer and bought a 40 pilot jet for my stock 300ex carb. when i got home to install i came to find the pilot in the carb was slightly shorter. will this effect the way it works while im riding?

it started and seemed to run ok on the trailer but i havent been able to get it off the trailer to test it yet. ive installed a dyno jet kit earlier and was trying to get rid of the off throttle popping and occasional hiccup that it developed after the install.

when seated, the new jet still sits within the tube that you screw it into. the stock jet just set in there deeper.

I don't see how it could affect anything take it for a rip and see.

thx for the reply. i dont think it will be a problem either. it fires right up now with no choke needed. cant wait to really try it out but livin in the city its hard to get a quick ride.
