Sorry if this is a redundant question but I have done a lot of reading here and couldn't really find an answer...my son is about to turn 14 and we want to get him an atv (we actually plan on getting two so we can go riding together). I'm looking at the 250ex because I know it's an excellent starter bike, but in some of the pics and vids I've seen here, it looks like it might be a little small for him. He's about 5'7" tall and around 140 pounds, and of course that is changing by the minute! I don't want something with too much power, but at the same time I don't want him to be bored with it in a few weeks...It will be basically for trail riding, he won't be doing anything too aggressive on it. What do you guys think? I appreciate any advice!

ya, that makes sense. I don't wanna buy something and end up trying to sell it next year. Now to convince the wife...

i think that a 400 or a 450 would be good for you. i had a 250 when i was 13 then got tired of it within a half a year. then got a 450 when i was 14. so you would be good with that.

Thanks, I ended up getting him a yamaha wolverine 450, automatic 4x4. Glad I didnt get a 250, defenitely would have been too small for him. Got myself a polaris magnum 330...not gonna win any races, but we just wanna go trail riding, should be fine for that. Thanks for steering me in the right direction, everyone.
