Our son Michael Lee Reed was born today at 3:33 p.m. 8lbs. 4oz. I still just cant believe it! Its been a long hard road to get to this, but i can honestly say there isnt anything that can describe the feeling! PLEASE keep us in your prayers though. He has a case of Jaundice and also has some bad bruising on his head. I havent left his side yet, the poor little guy is stuck under some type of special lighting to try help things.

Thank you
Justin

Congratulations man, that is awesome. I have an 8 month old that was our first. I don't know how I lived without her. Jaundice is pretty normal though. Mine had a little when she was born. Have fun man.

Congrats!
Fathers day present a whole week early!

Jaundice is pretty normal, and the bruising will go away quickly.
When our son was born he looked like he had gone a few tough rounds with a heavyweight boxer. within a week he was fine.

Enjoy being a Dad, and try to get stocked up on your sleep now. in about 6 - 8 weeks, when he discovers his vocal cords, you wont be getting very much, LOL!

HAPPY DAD'S DAY !!!

on edit-
What? No FOX logo swaddeling blanket ???
your neglecting him ALREADY !!!

Thank you everyone. They just got done taking some blood from the little guy to check for on update on what he's going through. Man, it hurt me just to see him being poked with needles and screaming. But we are hoping to hear back some good news sometime late tonight from the results. Home or hospital we will be watching MX tomorrow and hoping"Uncle Chad" pulls off a win for us:macho

Thank you

Everything has been great! And yes his vocal cords def. developed lol. I couldnt be more happy though. He's also sleeping through the whole night for us without a problem.

Heres a few shots of him, the black and white ones are from when he was 9 days old.

Justin,
The Munchkin is looking great !
I've got a little suggestion for you, that was a FANTASTIC thing for both of my kids.

Go look up a video called "Talking Hands".
it is a sign language video designed for infants to toddlers.

the way that the human brain develops, we as babies, learn to associate actions and pictures with results,... long before we learn to associate verbage/words with results.

that's why a baby cries for anything and everything he wants. When he cries we pick him up, feed him, change him, hold and comfort him. it's the first language that he learns to associate with getting what he wants.

this video cues in on the way the human brain develops, with lights, sounds, pictures, and gestures.
It also helps in developing eye to hand coordination.

The theory here is that by providing him with an alternate means to communicate, he will be better able to tell you what he wants. Thus resulting in a happier baby. And a happier baby means a happier mommy and daddy.

Think of it this way,...
when he is crying, and you cant seem to calm him down or satisfy what he wants, I.E.- you have fed him, changed him, rocked him, etc., and he is still mad...
in his mind, he is trying to tell you something and YOU are just not "Getting it". so he's mad. he thinks it is YOUR problem for not understanding him.

By providing him with a means to better communicate wiyh you, he is better equiped to tell you what he wants,....
You understand him,....
He understands you,...
and EVERYONE is all the more happier.
Trust me on this, IT WORKS !

go find it on Amazon.com or wherever, buy it, use it everyday, 4 or 5 times a day, and you will litteraly be AMAZED at how fast he starts to pick it up. he will be signing before he is 6 months old !

we tried many different types of communication with my son, knowing that the communication skills were going to be very slow to develop due to he was born with Down Syndrome.
most of the video's were for more developed age groups, but this one is perfect.
He was signing by the time he was 7 months old, and we started he around 4 months of age.

When my daughter was born,(no development issues), we started her off right away.
She was signing by the time she was 4 months old.

You WONT be disappointed.
Good luck to you and your new family, may you always have good health, and a happy life.
Ron
