I bought a '05 250ex last week and it needs the rear axle bearings replaced. I've done plenty of bearing jobs over the years but never had to tear apart the whole rear axle before. How hard a job is it? Any tips to share? Anything else I should replace while I got it apart?

Well i odered a rear axle bearing kit and a rear diff bearing kit. I'm just going to replace everything at one time. It's been making a bad noise lately that i think is a driveshaft bearing. Any tips anyone?

Have you tore it down yet? I just replaced the axle bearings on my son's 06, let me know if I can help out.

I replaced it a few weeks ago. Not too hard. Found out the noise I was hearing was the from the metal ring around the pinion seal. Seems it came off and was rattling around the driveshaft. All the bearings in the diff housing seemed in good shape. Only replaced the pinion seal and axle bearings and seals.
