View Full Version : first 250r rebuild

like the subject states im in progress of my first rebuild.. the frame, a arms and swinger are in to be powder coated and gusseted. It should be back this weekend. Anyone got any tips for putting it back together, any problems i might face, ive never done this before and im trying to do it right make this a nice quad. Any help or tips will be apprecited, i plan on posting pics as i go along.

First thing,check all bolt holes after powder coating.You may have to chase the holes with a tap or a thread chaser.Second,scrape the frame where the ground wires attaches.This will save you some headaches when you go to try and start the engine after you get it together.

I had bagged, tagged and labled everthing on my rebuild and i'll be dammed if i still spent hours scratchin my head on where certain bolts went :huh hope you have better luck lol.

haha yea im already scratching my head and just started but that what makes it fun to me i suppose heres the frame picture kinda sucks and really doesnt do the jutsice. Also got the a arms and swinger done too

things i bought

Lonestar +2/+1 a arms
leager stem +1
all new levers
new pro taper fat bars
new cables and radiator hoses
new bearings

things im getting within the month

rear master cylinder w/ rezzy
wheels and tires

i saw that quad on akron canton criagslist...what did u get it for. I seen it a 1600 last time.

ill have to do that, and yea that the one, i got it for 1600 but i sold some parts to my buddy right away so i ended up payin like 1100

nawp...... they are really tiny, thumbnail size but, from what i can tell. it's shaping up nicely. :cool:

yes its the pics ill get some better ones here over the weekend. Debating on buying yfz450 front shocks or waiting and gtting new ones at the moment

but thanks for the input any tips would be appreciated, ill also be looking for some plastics and rear tires in the future if anyone not in a hurry to sell some. just a though

little update its going slowly but surely itll get there, I have everything just to finish just taking my time

Things I have bought and done are:

+2 lonestar a-arms
powder coated and gusseted frame
pro taper bars
ims footpegs
SLC Quad Customs +1 swinger
new levers w/ cables
tired and rims(used but awesome shape)
laegers stem & clamp
All new bearings
clear radiator hoses
new hubs

and a few things here and there, engine was just rebuilt so I left it alone for now

It's looking great already!! It's so fun having all those nice shiny parts going together. I can't wait to build another R.

I am rebuilding my 250r also, its been so long since ive had it apart, and its now pc's. Where is the ground spot on the frame so I can do some filing?

mine is in the back around where the rear grab bar mounts, Ill check for sure tonight
