what exactly is the headpipe. can i make my own or is there something special inside the pipe? are all headpipes the same? im talking aftermarket

The curvature of the headpipe will play a factor in where the power is in your power curve. Some pipes are better suited for low-end, some for top-end. Typically, the pipes with tighter bends coming out of the head will yield gains in the top-end. Pipes that have a long wide bend coming out of the head will give you a little more bottom end.

A pipe is a pipe - there's nothing in it. Unless you want to start talking about pipes like FMF offers with the powerbomb. I'm not real sure what is involved with the powerbomb headers.

On a 300ex or blaster, you're not going to see much of a difference between a full exhaust with headpipe, and just a slip-on exhaust.

everybody says the 300ex headpipe is very restrictive..so i got a new one

300EX stock headpipe is very restrictive. You did a god thing getting an aftermarket one.
