I took mine off also because its not waterproof at all and my tools were all rusty....plus when it buried in mud its kinda hard to dig down and try to find your tool...i just carry my tools in my back pack now.

Actually there was a guy selling ones he made on E-bay for 150.00 that were pointed at the end and looked like a bullet. I talked to him and the lowest he would go was 125.00 so I never got it and ended up buying just a billet cover for my tool box. I guess he said it was a very time comsuming job making the entire tool box from aluminum.... Who knows thou... Look at the prices for billet pieces thou, 100.00 for a break pedal.. 90.00 for a shifter... It gets expensive quick when throwing billet on...

i might as well waste some money on billet aluminum fenders as well then too. honestly, why spend so much on a toold holder like that? sure it looks nice but its not worth that much

It would probably be worth it if you were needing a waterproof spot to smuggle some stuff across the border on your quad...

I wouldn't pay 100 bones for that thing either, I had the same idea, I am going to make one similar to that at work, slightly bigger than stock, with an O-ring groove so it will end up being waterproof, truly waterproof, and a knurled end so it's easy to grip, I am going to brace the mounting bracket stronger and TiG it all together for strength.

The guy was right about it being a time consuming process, if it's not automated, drilling out the aluminum bar, boring and turning, chasing a thread, o ring groove, internal chase the cap, knurling it...i'll be doin it at breat/lunchtime so it might take a bit, but won't cost anymore than 25 bucks or so i figure for materials.
