i order a sprocket bolt kit on ebay its 10x30 and it doesent fit! it seems like its not even suposta take a nut on the hub since its threaded?

ALSO when puting the front sporcket on its just the sprockt that big washer and the bolt right? why are there 2 threaded holes in the c/s sprockt?

I'm not sure on the bolt size, but yes, the rear sproket is a bolt and locking nut set-up. I just put a new drive set on my '86 last month. You should have the flare-head bolts with an allen socket in it that the bolt heads fit into the matching "flared" holes in the sprocket. The bolts then pass-through the drive hub on the axle and then the lock-nut goes on the in-board side of the hub. Does not hurt to dab a little blue loc-tight on the bolts before running the nuts on, for added security.

As for the front sprocket, all of the sprocket makers manufacture the sprockets to fit a wide range of bikes. You are correct with the large washer and a single bolt holding the sprocket on the transmission out-put shaft. If you go back about 2 years from your '86, to a '84 ATC 250R, you'd see the 2 threaded holes used to hold the drive sprocket on.

Hope that helps ya.

I know why your axle sprocket hub isn't looking right. You have a 85 atc250r axle. That uses 4- 8mm 1.25 thread bolts w/ a washer and w/o a nut on the back. You said its a 86? Post up a picture of the swingarm and rear brake caliper mounted. I'm betting you have a 85 atc250r swingarm also. I got a picture of the rear brake setup
