What do you ride on? Track, trail, sand?

For trail use and occasional Track.
The cheapest way to not bottoming a 300ex is a 400ex frontend and raptor rear shock.

Just beshure to get 250R upper arms with the rest of the front end suspension 400ex.

If you ride the track, go with the 400ex lowers, 250r uppers and 450r shocks. The 450s are stiffer and adjustable. allowing bigger jumps.

Just be ready to rebuild that raptor shock frequently, as it blows its bladder.
Best bet is to go with a aftermarket rear shock and the above on the front.

This is a proven and Very cheap setup VS full on Elka and Long travel frontend.

I personally run the full on 400ex front and raptor rear, for trail riding. I have not bottomed out yet. I wiegh in at 155.

i ride mostly trails and a little track. i know the 400 stuff works. but i would rather have new shocks though so i know what i got and id like to make it around 6" wider instead of 2" but thanks for the response

Its 4" wider and 1" taller.

GDHracing on ebay is the best place. I have nuthing but 100% to say about them. Perfect parts.

As you stated you ride trails. Unless your dead set on $$$ aftermarket. I would just do the 400 swap.
I spent 260$ doing the front and back of my 300.
It ROCKs through the trails. Well it does dive abit on fast turns.
So unless your chasing dirtbikes you have NP's with the 400 frontend.

GL on your build tho.. Post some pics when you get it bolted together..

i want to try 400ex a arms with some yamaha shocks, i heard you dont have to buy the converter for long shocks as if you put on the 400ex shocks, i know the yamaha banshee and the raptor shocks are not as long as the 450 and 400 shocks, so you will still get more travel and a few inchs wider

ya,aha shocks wont work because the top mount is wayyy to wide, about a half an inch at least, why not just do 450r shocks with the relocator?

so the 400 arms would make it 4" wider overall?? Anyone heard of these? would it be better to go with used 400 aftermarket a arms or just get 300 a arms? thanks guys

I heard they only add 1.25" on each side. I have them on my 300ex but I didn't measure before or after. I really don' think they add 4" overall though.

what about plus +3+1 a arms and stock 450R shocks... Too stiff? or no?
is there any rear shocks that fit besides the raptors? thanks

Those are some nice arms, But you will still need the upper shock relocator with the 450 shocks.
And yess they will be Stiff as hell untill you respring them for you and your atv's weight.
I have read of ppl using the yamaha fronts instead of the honda shocks, How they fit I have no clue.
I ride Red and wont build a crossover like that.. LOL yea I am a lil ****** when it comes to my brands.
But! I would LOVE to have adjustability that the yamaha shocks have, As my front end dives abit during HARD fast turns on the trails and streets, Yess I am that guy everyone hates. I can ride to the trails from my house.

Bro, My lil 300 would fit with NP between the wheel wells of my s-10, as in plently of room.
Now with the 400 lower arms, I have to ride it up over the wheel wells. No wheel or tire change.
I also bang trees in tight sections where I would fly through in the past. They make a drastic width change, from what your use to with the stock 300 stuff. anything wider in the trails IMO is a waste and forces you to worry about your lines ALOT more.

Notice I also went up another 1" on the low setting (using the upper shock relocator) or 1 3/4" on the high setting. But for the 1 3/4" lift you MUST have the 250r uppers as the camber gets all screwed up and the bike will push BAD in fast turns. Not only will the camber be off but you will kill wheel bearings FAST! I'm on my second set.

I have 13 3/4" of clearance all the way to my swingarm now. With a full skidplate.

Now my rear end did not come up any. but I gained ALOT more travel. How mutch I do not know as I cannot bottom it out! I have tried! Found my fattest friend and said jump on this grab bar! and he could not bottom it. This guy is 200+! This is with the sag set to my weight and clickers set for my ride style.

As for other rear shocks. Im shure there are a few, Just make shure its the same length from eye to eye (maybe a inch or 2 longer IF you want more belly pan ground clearance) and has a hosed remote res.

i would suggest 400 or 250r arms for trail and some track. I have +3 and it sucks for trails hard to fit in tight trails. I have a set of 250r arms, 400ex shocks and a relo that i am selling that would be great for what you need. PM me if you interested thanks.
