05 yfz 450 HELP!!

I have a factory 2005 yfz 450. Rode a few times, when the rod and crank siezed. My brother is going to rebuild it for me, but needs me to get the parts. I don't know that much about the rebuilding but would like any info on what to get. I will have to get the parts and ship them to him. I have saved some money for it but have alot going on right now, and don't want to put a fortune in it. He is going to rebuild both the top and bottom ends.

Use the 06 and up crank -- not the 05. It's stronger and makes it a 449cc. Consider getting a shop to do the oil mod (standard on the 07 and up motors). One stock yamaha parts place on-line is partswarehouse.com (versus using a dealer) with pretty good prices.

What do you think about the piston? OEM or other?
