Anyone have a hmf slip-on on a 400ex? Where is the power gains- low/mid/top? anyone know how they compare to the TC slip-on? I heard one last summer and they sound mean and I think they look good, but how's durability? thanks!

I haven't heard anything bad about them. Check out www.hmfengineering.com. They have there own dyno charts of all there pipes. The slip-on does just as good as the full system...

i have heard nothing but good things about HMF. i was planning to get there full system for my 400 but i decided on a sparks x-6 instead. i dont know much about there slip-ons but there full system has great craftsmanship, fitment, and a nice growl to it. hope this helped

RIDER,
I just picked up a HMF slip-on from Hans the owner of HMF engineering. He told me that the power gains are in the lows. Adds a 6 to 7 horsepower to a stock 400EX. I haven't had a chance to put mine on yet. Another great thing is that he powder coats the slip-on for your quad. The durablity is great to from what Hans told me. He has had one on his 400EX for over a year and it hasn't changes for what he has told me. My opinion is that it's a great buy.

HMF, I like mine a lot, wish i would've gotten the full system! Made great improvement in low-mid rpm ranges, and has a nice bark, looks nice, somewhat different than that of what everybody else has, and good quality-hand made and all.

:D Thanks for the reply, as I really was thinking nobody bought one of these for some reason. Did you also buy the HMF jet kit? What jetting did you use? What intake mods did you make? Did you buy silver or a color? And lastly, got any pics of it?

Thanks again!!!

Sorry no pics, i bought a K&N power kit seperately, used the K&N filter with my airbox lid on(too much dust&crap to get in there), 146 Dynojet main, Dynojet Needle on 3rd clip(per thier instructions), and stock airscrew 3.5-4 turns out-helps out a lot starting in cold weather turning it a bit more than reccomended, also thinking about 40 or 42 pilot.

Oh yea, paid the 20 bones extra for the polished silver model, in my opinion looks the nicest, just a slip on too-i'm pretty happy with it.

Did you use the jet from HMF or K&N jets? Just curious because I have the jet giving to me from HMF for mine. I'm installing the slip-on tomorrow hopefully. Depends on my working hours tomorrow. I will take pics of it as soon as it's installed. I picked up the powder coated yellow one.
