So between having 2 full time jobs and getting married my '05 400ex has been sitting lonesome in a shed for a year or so. So I've decided to sell it and now I can't get it cranked. Drained all the old gas out the tank and got fresh gas and re-charged the batt. Engine turned over easily and even had a few times it wanted to crank but never did. Charged batt again overnight and tried next day. Same thing and then all of a sudden it quit turning over after a few times and now clicks. Clicking seems to come from solenoid. What could be my problem and how do i find out for sure? Battery? Starter? Solenoid? Any help is much appreciated.

I'll bet it's clicking because you drained the battery. As for why it won't fire up... Check the snorkel, airbox and exhaust for nests.

Ok... well i actually borrowed a fresh battery. And apparently its not my battery, because it just clicked again repeatedly. Any other ideas? Thanks.

its your starter relay. seems to be pretty common on 400ex's, as my brother and i have both had to replace ours.
