i have just purchased a walsh hybrid with a yzf426 bottem end. and my question is when you shift either way the shifter does not go back to its original position. meaning when you up shift the shifter stays up until you push it down. when you down shift the shifter stays down until you pull it up. the bike will shift thru all the gears but you just have to move the shifter manually. has anyone had this problem before and what is the fix. i do not know anything about a yamaha. i have 4 other hybrids but they are all hondas and i have never had this type of problem. any and all help will be greatly appreciated. thanks, jerry

yeah there is some good information there. just dont mention that the motor is in a quad chassis or you will probably get harrassed and banned within an hour.

Its probably the shift detent, which is the mech, that makes it ratchet back to place. Pull the clutch cover, and clutch. Its all right there.. hopefully that will be as far as you have to go. I don't think its a fork.

thanks for all help and ideas with this problem. there is a u spring that comes off the shift shaft and the is a hole directly above it like there is supposed to be a dowel or something in the hole but between the spring. with the clutch cover off if you put a screw driver in there and shift the motor the shifter returns like it suppose to. therefore i believe i have found the problem. i will just have to find the correct pin or dowel to put in the hole. thanks again for all your help.
