Before I removed my Sparks key, I looked for a +3 key and couldn't find one.
Does anyone make one?
If not, would anyone be interested in one? I've been toying with the idea of buying a bunch of stock key and machining them down for a +3 degree timing advance. The cost for a key and bolt would be about $20 shipped, I wouldn't send instructions with it, just a link to this site.
Let me know if someone already offers these, if not and I get enough people interested, I'll make a batch of them.
I could also do custom keys as well, +2,+3,+4.
Thanks,
Jeremiah

+6 can cause problems with the compression that him and a lot of other people are running. +3 would probably be the sweet spot.

I did, until I rode in the dunes in warmer weather. A mid range ping and heat made me decide to remove it. I modified the stock key for a 4 degree advance. The engine responded very well to the 6 degree key, although in my application 6 was too much. The 4 so far works great, no power loss compared to the 6, no pinging.

I'm running a stock key that I cut for a 4 degree advance, 6 proved to be too much for my combo.
It'll be a couple weeks before I get everything together to make some. I'll report back here when I get some made. The first batch will be +3's unless someone lets me know that they want something different.

The keys should be here next week, I'm working on the bolts at the moment. I expect to have some keys ready before the end of the month.

what compression do you run, wheelie? i've been tossin' around the idea of the +6 but it makes me nervous with my thin 11:1 426 setup. +3 would be a good idea, surprised they're not already around.

Powroll advertises my setup as 11.3:1.
I would recommend running 100 octane with one of my keys and 11:1 compression just to be safe.
The bolts were ordered today. I might have some keys w/flywheel pullers ready around the 21st of this month. The price will be between $20-25 shipped USPS.

Guys and gals you cant beat this deal cause the sparks +6 is right around $30 shipped so for a built motor this would be an awesome add and cheaper lol. Props wheelie.

I've got 3 keys ready. Unfortunately I made a mistake when setting up my milling machine and ended up taking off a couple thousands of an inch too much. I intended to take off only .025.
2 keys have .030 shaved off--4 degrees of advance.
1 key has .028 shaved off--about 3.5 degrees of advance.
I'll get the next batch spot on. If anyone wants the keys listed above, let me know. A flywheel puller is included with the key.
Prices:
$23.95 if paying via Money Order or Cashiers Check
$25.00 if paying via Paypal.
These prices include shipping, I will ship via USPS.
Thanks,
Jeremiah

Im new here and just bought my first quad, a 2003 400ex but have a question. Ive heard of overheating problems with the 6 degree key. I live in texas and have weather to 105 degrees would the 6 be too much? Also if not I would love to order a 6 degree key from you and not sparks, can you make one offset by chance? My mods are only a slip on fmf and 14t front sprocket for now, but next week Ill put a couple added snorkels for airflow, new filter with outerwears, grind headers, and rejet.
