Figured I am putting the full pipe on I will go ahead and open the lid a bit as well. I was steering clear of this mod since I didn't want to jet, but I will need to anyway so why not. Any other good suggestions other than the EHS?

Im getting an outerwear sheet then cutting a large hole in the lid then covering it with the outerwear sheet. Should really help the flow and yet help keep alot more dust and what not out rather than no lid at all.

That is pretty much what the EHS lid is. It is an Outerwears filter pre-installed on a new lid that fits the stock box.

How much is the EHS lid though? The outerwear sheet is like $20.

The EHS lid runs $80 since it is all done up, engraved, etc. They of course ding you for that. You can buy a kit for $55 and do it yourself from EHS as well.

I also found a K&N brand lid that is very similar to the EHS lid which is ready to bolt on for $60 on Ebay.

You can buy the EHS pre cut outerwears for $17 and make your own as well.

I cut my lid and cut a leg off of a pair of pantyhose and it works just like the outerwears.

There are directions how to make something like the EHS lid in the "How to" section. I did it and it it works great and better then getting rid of the lid.

EHS may look more professional though.

BTW what jetting would you use with one of these lids if you have just a slip on? might get a uni filter.

I bought the the following off Ebay instead;
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120424771386&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWNX%3AIT&salenotsupported

It's the K&N red billet anodized lid which looks very similar to the ESH. Using "Bing" to "buy it now" it ran me $55.00 which even after shipping is $32 less than the EHS.

That looks pretty cool and this way I can keep old lid. I just wonder if you would get more air flow with ehs. This says 15% more while ehs says follow jetting as if no airbox lid on.

Will only pull through as much air as the carb will allow. Doing this is for the fact that the intake tube is smaller than the carb boot, and has bends in it its more restrictive. Being bigger than the boot and right there at the filter it allows more air flow allowing the carb to have as much as it needs. Honeslty going this way or no airbox lid at all will still only allow so much air in.

I just like the fact that this kit isnt velcro like the others but I would preffer the EHS over that one listed. As the EHS uses a stock lid using all six points of clips the K&N only uses the front and rear and I dont know but does it have a gasket like the stock lid that sits down over the box? That is why I like the EHS it just seems more secure.

Mine turned out purity good. i painted it black to blend in, plus the hole thing cost me like 25 bucks. I can get pics if you would like.

Im running a Dyna jet kit, but i cant remember what numbers they are.

Has it worked for you good without alot of vibration with only 4 clamps? Is it somewhat waterproof?

Well I just ordered it and have not received it yet. Waiting on my full exhaust and jets as well. Should have everything good to go by the weekend.
