I have a '06 450r with a tc head, tc pipe, and tc cam, Uni filter, and it is jetted properly. Its always started fine all year. But now whenever i try to start it, it takes about 30 kicks. I've cleaned the carb, bought and gapped a new plug, checked the valve lash and the exhaust valves are a little tight but i plan on fixing that tomorrow. It kicks over fine and easy its not any harder to kick, it just wont start right away, i've tryed the hot start lever and choke. It just takes alot of kicks to start it.. Any ideas are much appreciated. P.S. When it does start is runs a little rough when i roll on the throttle.
Thanks

I would guess it's the valves just being out of spec. Make sure your decompression is set correctly, also.

agree^^^

if the intakes are tight it wont want to start very well
(worse when cold)

its not the valves they are all in spec and i found out today that its not getting spark, so i tryed a diff plug, i tryed unpluging the tether, its got a new CDI already so its not that, so im thinking its the stator or the coil..

check the ground wire tab above the coil.. sometimes they snap from the bladed pigtail that attaches to the coil... if thats not it more than likely a stator.

I'm having similar problems, ordered a new stator yesterday.
