After looking for a truck for 6 months I finally got one. Its a 1999 ford ranger xlt stepside with 97k miles and a flex fuel engine. So should I run the E85 in it or should I use regualr unleaded? Ive read that E85 gets 25% less MPG is that true?

Are you sure you have a flex fuel motor on a 1999??? My dad has a 2003 ranger fx4 stepside and his isnt flex fuel. Come to think of it I have never seen a flex fuel ranger let alone one that is ten years old.

Good purchase, hard to beat a ranger. I had two of them before my F250. They were both incredibly reliable, and I beat them hard. Being that it is FLEX fuel, you can run either, thus the term, flex. It's flexible... get it.

E85 will get worse mileage but is usually cheaper. Most gas at the pumps (at least in my area) contains up to 10% ethanol anyways.

Post some pics up!

To those questioning the "flex fuel" of his truck, there are so many Ford Flex fuels on the road it's not even funny. They dont say "flex fuel" on them, they have a little badge with a green leaf on them to signify this. Most people have probably seen it before and didn't even know what it was.
