anyone using one? I bought the chain kit from RMatv and everything looks good but the front sprocket doesnt seem to want to slide onto the splines. The old one slid right off but the new one no such luck, I guess it possible for it to be slightly off or is it just really tight with a new one?

I run them sprockets and dont remember having a problem when I put mine on, might be possible that you got the wrong sprocket. If you put alittle PB Blaster on it should slide right on.

If your front sprocket is like the 300ex you can't just slide it on with the bolt holes lined up you have to slide it on and then turn it to lock it and line the holes up. again I don't know if its the same setup as a 300 but it can be tricky if you don't know how it locks in.

From what I undestand there is a slight difference between the 99-04 sprocket and the 05-up. Maybe you got the wrong one?

also the old sprocket had a different clip set up that what you guys are talking about....it was just a big c clip no bolts or holes

my 13t is a tight fit aswel but i was able to shove it on there. just play with it. as for the c clip thats fine. the shaft the sprocket slides onto has an index for the big c clip to snap onto.

the 05 and up have 2 small 8mm bolts that hold it on. Just slides right on and tighten up. The 400 dont lock like the 300 does.

my 03 has a setup like that where the sprocket goes on and then a thin plate gets screwed over it into 2 holes.

so 99-04 don't have the 2 8mm bolts?, the new one does so does that mean mine is from an 05+?

The way it was described above the older ones had a C clip, I personally dont know on the older ones up to an 05. so I was stating from what I knew the 05 on up sorry shoulda made myself more clear on that.

The other part of that post was to the guy with the 300ex it just slides on the spindal that bolts down.

you have a 15 stock. did you need another stock sprocket or were you looking for 2 aftermarkets?

well the one coming off was 14 so I wanted longer legs so I got the 15t in the kit which didnt fit so I had to order another one and ordered a 14 in case the 15 ended up being too tall for the trails we ride

There should be two 8mm bolts on the 99-04. I just replaced my worn out chain and sprocket set on my 99 with a Primary Drive chain and sprockets. It had two bolts just like stock.

The spline pattern is different inbetween the 05-09 and 99-04

like completely different or slightly different? Mine looks like it will line up just not go.....just for my own knowledge. RMATV would replace it but I would have to send it back to them which is a wash

when you ordered them did you put in your quads year model? If so then it should be the right part.

As for going on they are kinda tight to start wiggle it side to side as sliding on until it seats all the way back.

no I put in the year and they said its the correct part number shipped but I threw the package out before I could verify part number. Mines not like snug but tight its hit it with a hammer kinda tight

i had the same problem when i ordered a P.D. front sprocket from RMatv. i just called and complained, i had spent enough that year to get the shoppers discount so RMatv sent me a return ups label through email for free. my advice is to spend the money and by a "better" part. i went with sunstar. good luck.
