041 are you sure your 400ex will be able to fit down the trails with the +2 aarms? Better think about some +4+1 rims to narrow you up a bit.

check out www.amadistrict6.com go to harescrambles and check out the schedule.
There are alot more races at the dutchman this spring so there are plenty of chances to check it out!!!!

I describe the Dman as a big long MX race with no really big jumps and alot of flat turns. Its around 4 -5 miles and is totally flat. Its based on an mx track for the start then connects to a mini mx track then into a wooded feild and alot of tight turns. Its really wide any mx bike can be run there. Just use XC tires cause theres alot of Shale, ballist ,whatever u want to call it. Fist size rocks i guess u can say!!!!! The entire track is visible by spectators, and they have a warm club house with a BAR. That right a BAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyway its a fun place to run. I have raced there at least 75 times on a quad through out the years.
Borich,Hertz and Smiley are the ones to beat at this track.

01-06-2003, 10:53 AM
Hopefully I will be there along with Ron (Derno24) and Lenny (440ex4me). We will be running the C class

I'll be at dutchmen.....yea i raced the Harrisburg race last year. Raced 250b on a blaster. Was impossible to qualify cause they only took like 3 from the qualifier and 2 from LCQ. I was racing against worked Rs, EXs, and some Canns. Got 5th in qualifier and missed getting into the main by 1 spot in the LCQ. It was a fun weekend, but very $$$ for the amt of time you get on the track. Not racing this year but will definitely be there hanging out in the ECA pits again.

wow really looksa like there is gonna be a $hit load of exriders there.should be really fun. does anyone know what the ground conditions are over there right now?when i say that i mean is there any snow there? im in north jersey and i got like 4 inches on the ground here left from snow we got last week.
also, is this a bike and quad event? what are the differnt quad classes?

jlhughes750
01-08-2003, 08:23 AM
Quads start @ 10:30 then the bikes run afterwards @1:00

classes and starting order as follows
A 2stroke
A 4 stroke
Vet +30
B 2trk
B 4strk
C 4strk
utility
0-230

classes start @60 seconds apart and run for 1hr. 15 min.
mx setups will work fine just run better tires.

WE NEED "A CLASS RACERS" TO SIGN UP,COME ON WHAT DO HAVE TO LOSE, RACE FOR CASH. THE B CLASSES ARE FLOODED, AND THE SAME GUYS HAVE RUN A FOR YEARS. LETS SEE SOME NEW FACES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After the hour or so race for the kids, Flying Dutchmen either starts the race for the quads, or they have what is called a "parade lap". This is basically a practice lap where the staff checks your kill tether switch and you get an idea of the whole coarse.

After the quad race, they have a two hour hare scramble for the dirt bikes. This is cool, because we get to watch them for an hour or so before they have the awards presentation for the quads.:) (Some will go in a drink, watch tv, and socialize, rather than watch the race... But I won't mention any names!):D

As for the quad classes, if I remember right:
Two stroke A class
Four stroke A class
Four stroke B class
Four stroke C class
Two stroke B class
Vet class
Utility class

I think this is the order too, but do not quote me on this!

Lenny you are big enough to be santa so get the reindeer warmed up I'll make sure to bring the red suit for ya. So where are we riding this weekend.

01-08-2003, 05:45 PM
bring that red suit and maybe some of them there raindeers too :)

If I dont get my stuff back in time for this I guess I am gonna have to enter the warrior in the utility class, plus it works better in the snow anyhow.

Derno24
01-08-2003, 06:40 PM
The warrior would still be in the C class Lenny.

01-08-2003, 10:32 PM
Hmmm now that could be embareassing to get beat by the ole warrior :) then you would be wishing the guy in the red suit showed up:D

Say I do go, where are places to stay around there? Is there hotels in the area, or camping or what? I have no problem camping in february.

I found it to be a great place to start at, and I am still enjoying the place!:) Your 300ex will be just fine.;) I wished I would have started in this sport at the age of 16... I think it is worth a shot for you to try this event out. These are just my thoughts, and I don't think that you would be wasting you time. Before the race you can communicate with anyone, see their racing machines, review the track, etc. Then after the race, everyone either brags how good they did, how fast they saw the pro guys go, how dirty it was out there, and of coarse... "I could have beat you if .....":D See what you would be missing out on! But seriously, the majority of us racers have a great time out there, hopefully you will be one of them!

If I don't see you, good luck!

my first race was at the d-man, in 94 i've raced there 7-10 times a year since. I've won there in the 2strk B class, the 4strk pro class, and a few times in the 2strk Pro class. Its a great track to race with your buddys, and its an even better track to hunt down your competitors for a few laps then in the "switch backs" on the last lap, hold thats outer edge around the berms and motor right by!!!!!!!!!! The racing is reallly competetive and theres alot of room for battles. The track is fast though, wow about two laps in, the lappers are 3 wide down the straights, its somtimes gets hairy picking your way through. Its great though to see all the new racers out there!!!!

we'll be there stop and say hi!!!!
look for the Powerline ATV quads.

jja125
01-10-2003, 10:05 AM
hey since i've been going through the schedules looking for a place to start at this spring - what is in your opinion the best track to start at for your first race in hare scrambles/ gncc racing? (in the pa, oh, & wv areas i guess)

either wisp or the john penton are the closest gncc's for me but i definitely know i don't want my first one to be at wisp/deep creek.

01-10-2003, 11:06 AM
The racing is reallly competetive and theres alot of room for battles. The track is fast though, wow about two laps in, the lappers are 3 wide down the straights, its somtimes gets hairy picking your way through. Hmmm sounds like it could be interesting, and maybe expensive raplacing all those bent up parts :D

Lenny: You have to be in the race to battle people not catching a smoke break on the side.... Ready for the cold this weekend..... Remember it will probably be colder on the 2nd.

jja125: The dutchman isn't very rough so if you just want the chance to get you feet wet without worrying too much about the terrain than this is your place. Most of the other places are rough and rougher with less places to pass.

01-10-2003, 12:43 PM
Lenny: You have to be in the race to battle people not catching a smoke break on the side.... Funny you are starting to sound like someone getting ready to be SMOKED. :D :macho

jlhughes750
01-10-2003, 12:58 PM
Don't worry, just move when the Pro guys come through and the parts won't get bent up too bad.!!!!!hahahaha

Its not uncommon for the B or C guys to go 1 maybe even 2 laps down!!!

It'll be fun, just come out and try it. Its a great place to race and meet new riders. I'm new to EXRIDERS, but i've been going to the d-man for years, it would be great to meet some other EX members, i can show u guys around the track a little. Maybe intoduce u to some of the fast guys.

the d-man is weird some people love it and others hate it.

let me try to explain, its such an easy track, but thats what makes it hard. Its flat with a few doubles, its a harescramble but theres no hills or creeks to cross. Its more of an MX track but its run for over an hour. The track changes every lap, it gets a groove in it and a berm on the outside. Theres a trick to going fast there that a few of us have figured out. u really have to use TT racing tactics most of the time, slower is faster, smooth lines fast lines, you know that hole idea. Its really a unique track, by the way its almost fast and wide open enough to drain a stk. ex tank in an hour. My R with a 4.0 clarke would hit reserve on lap 7, if they make it an extra lap race like they have been, then i need to refuel sometime during the race. A laps between 4 and 5 miles long. You pretty much run flat out the entire race. Its not real woodsy!!!!!!!!!!

01-10-2003, 04:22 PM
Doubles oh nooo there go the new bars :)

So its more like a MXscramble then Hmmmmm intersting.

lou....i have only seen a few actually hit the jumps there. the quads have lines around them. im sure you wont have any trouble;) my biggest fear with gncc is that after 9 miles of slamming my quad thru rocks..rutts...trees...creeks...etc ...that it will be in one piece to hit a jump:p but at this track its all good. like he described earlier....fast and flat.....very fun:D
