Hey guys,
i am new to the forum and i am a proud owner of a brand 07 400 ex. I was wondering if it is possible to take a 450r muffler and use it as a slip on. i was also wondering if i need to rejet or is everything just bolt on and ride. Thank you guys again,
Richie

Usually if you dont have to rejet it means that the quad doesnt run lean / rich so basically it doesnt affect the performance.

I'd wait and buy a full exhaust instead of going the cheap way of a slip-on. ;)

I had this idea a while back, but even before then a member on this forum put one on his 400ex. It works, and with the open/hrc tip, it works as a preformance slip on. I say go for it if you don't have much money;)

Going to another stock OEM muffler...I really doubt you'd have to rejet, it's not (to my knowledge) a dramatically different pipe. Your stock jet is a 148, you may need to go 150 or 152 at the very most...but try it, I bet it'll be fine with almosty no noticable difference aside from a bit louder.

Not true. With the tip removed, the 450r is one of the best stock exhaust pipes made. That's why in the HRC preformance kit, they don't give you a new muffler. Rather a tip for the stock one. And it makes a very noticeable difference on the 450r. The stock 400ex pipe sucks and has a bunch of chambers.

Ya learn something new every day, I stand corrected (good to know). I had figured it was the near same exhaust system.

the 450r muffler is nice, what people usally do is weld a bigger pipe running along the inside i think the stocker in there is a pretty small pipe, but still better then a 400ex muffler. i would say u need atleast a 155 main and a 40 pilot. if udont even want to do any ods to your quad you should put a 150 main so the engine could run a bit cooler

Yeah. They're pretty nice. They're also stainless steel, so they look pertty:cool:

It would be an increase in power. Not as much as say an aftermarket muffler, but power is power and you will still notice it. I would say go for it. I was going to, but then I found the alien dirt cheap.
If he has the tip removed, then it's the same thing as the HRC tip. All the HRC tip is, is an open tip.

The reason those same tips don't work on the 400ex, is because of the chambers in the muffler. You have to make modifications like drilling into the back wall and such, but the 450r pipe will still sound better and probably make more power.
