motocross rim size

i wanna get new rear rims and tires this week and i have 20" on it right now and wanna go down to an 18" but i wanna no if im better off with a 10" or an 8" rim, any sugestions would be great

i have seen both used but 8" wheel is definately the most common and most tires for racing are in that size. and 8" wheel will allow more tire flex and will let the tire act as another "suspension" where a 10 inch will not.

you might be more likely to ding up a 10" rim with an 18"tire on it also. i would def. go with 8" rims.
