hey pred owners, i just picked up a 05 tld, it has the k+n filter already on it, so i was wondering, i took the breather top off, to inspect, there's oil in the bottom of my air breather, the bike has an underlying problem though, wondering if this could have anything to do with it, first off, a bad rap in the bottom of the motor, i think its a connecting rod bearing, either way it needs a rebuild.. runs great besides that rap. but i dont think a bad connecting rod bearing would send oil to the breather... or maybe.. idk. any info would be great.. im gonna tear into it soon.. anxious to do the rebuild.. prolly gonna go mostly stock. ALSO. where do you guys get ur cranks worked on, if it is the connecting rod bearing, ill send it to.....???? have all new between counter weights, and connecting rod, but if i do all that id like to have it balanced and blueprinted.. gimme some ideas guys pls. i wanna ride this thing, i can do all the other work myself except obvious.. crank work... valve job, grind and reseat, i need a good dependable reputable place with decent rates to do this specialty work though.

Mine does this when there is a little too much oil in the tank.

yeah it take like 2.25 qts max otherwise itll burp the excess into the airbox. If its not overfilled it could be that the bike was stored up or there is a kink in the oil lines somewhere

mine does it when half the teeth on the oil pump gear are missing, and it burns up the whole head and cams, cam guides and cams were melted down bad, pump mustve been bad for a while, theres no way it was pumping at all with all these teeth missing... need a head and cams if anyones got one, its an 04 tld, motors stock as far as i know

oil pump gear

so i guess it dont matter what kind of oil or how much, when your oil pump gear is missing half its teeth and fails to get oil to your head.. lol :)

I have heard that if you do a lot of wheelies that could happen too.
