hey guys.... im happy to inform i didnt end up having to sell my 2000 400ex, but i did get rid of it, a kid traded me a 2005 predator 500 tld, BUT.. its got a bad bad rap in the bottom of the motor, sounds like a connecting rod bearing to me, kid said it was the valves... but.. idk, wheres a good place to get crank work done, that wont cost me an arm and a leg? id just restore it all to stock spec. maybe have it balanced and blueprinted, so this dont happen again, but i talked to a guy said they'd b+b with labor 290, (which isnt bad, imo) not including parts it might need (bearing).. if i tear into this thing and find out for some reason it is something in the head valve adj. or timing chain, then i wont need to do this, but im pretty convinced its a conn. rod bearing. still a pretty good trade though heh? i can do all the other work myself, except the obvious, i dont have a press, lathe, or any equipment to do crank work, but i can tear it down and make it run again, id send it out for any specialty work, but i know u ex owners know of some good places to get this work done, crank, valve jobs, any ideas will be greatly appreciated.. thanx in advance

got this wheeler.......not a great pic, from blackberry

Dide you ride the pred? Whats done to it? Hows it compare to the 440 power wise? I was thinking about preds a while back.

Oh ya I rode the pred, the ole 440 was gettin tired startin to smoke a lil, plastic was painted, it was needing some attn. I'd rather do a rebuild on this, its new, bigger, liquid cooled, nice suspension. But ya, this thing even with that bad rapping noise, its sick compared to the ex, unbeleiveable really, I love it can't wait to restore that motor n see what its really got for power, I'm sure its not running at its best since there is obviously something going on in there, but its got a lot more extras stock than the ex,s have, I'd recommend it to anyone

yeah those preds are underestimated. they are way fast with mods and stuff. and they have good suspension.

that quad has the fuji (fuji heavy industries ie subaru) engine in it. the carb is problematic, you might want to do a little research on it. Its pretty good but dont have the reliability of the KTM engine they put in a year later. you need to hang out here now http://www.predatorowners.com/
