correct way to put on tie rods

Im working on putting my first build back together and had a question on which way to put tie rods back on. What is the correct position to put them on. Add as much detail as possible. Sorry i tried searching this but stupid thing wont let you search less than 4 letter words (ex: tie ,rod)
