In my findings using the search feature, any motor oil is ok to run if the dosen't have the " energy conseving" in the circle with the standards. Is that correct? Thanks.

dont go off and run compressor oil or hydraulic jack oil. use motor oil 10w40 or 20w50, even tho i would never run anything except motorcycle specified oils. even tho motor oil works, it doesn't mean its the same. spend the extra bucks

Quaker state 10-40 is on sale for $11 for 5 quarts. My clutch was slipping and i realized i put in oil that had the energy conv. lable on it, so i was thinking of flushing it with this and i bought some vavloline motorcycle oil to run in it

I have only ran regular 10-40 motor oil in my quad. My quad is 9 years old and runs fine, clutches and all and still the original crank.
Run what you want, but don't say regular oil is bad. Energy conserving is another thing.:ermm: I change my oil so often, I would kick myself if I put expensive oil in it.

According to my 2005 owners manual that is correct. :)
By saying "any oil", I'm sure he means any "motor oil".

Any oil labeled as energy conserving means it has some amount of moly additives. Moly works great for our engine and trans, but builds up in the clutch plates and causes slip. Usually the damage is non-reversible, as the Molybdenum is embedded in the clutch fibers.
