bar clamp question

i have a trailtech bar clamp on my 400ex. i bent the fat bars. my friend who owns a shop sent me some free 7/8 bars. can i get sme rubber filler that fills the gap so that i can use the 7/8 bars

That's probably not a good idea. I'd hate to see the bars slip on you while riding.
