Im looking into buying a set of +2+1 a-arms for my '86 250r that im restoring.

<a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ASR-Honda-TRX250R-2-up-1-Pro-Series-Racing-A-Arms_W0QQitemZ120423528998QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMotor s_ATV_Parts_Accessories?hash=item1c09cd3a26&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245&_trkparms=72%3A1171%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A131 8">These</a> are the ones im looking at, but I would like a few opinions from folks who use ASR products.

The last thing I want is one of these to break when im airing the old girl out..

Generally from what I have heard and read, they are pretty sub par quality products. I haven't heard much recently on them. Depends on what kind of riding you're looking at doing with it.

If you plan on doing a decent amount of jumping or MX, you may want to go with a more well known company.

Just my .02.

Only thing I have from them is the anti-fade 450r axle locknut. It has been a great product...way better than the $250 RPM one.

I have the older style on my 250r.A lil different than the newer style. They are a lil on the heavy side but very durable.also they come with a real lifetime warranty, and i've heard they stand by it.

They have been just fine for me airing a little in the dunes and been doing some mx racing. and some of that was with shocks that were not revalved for the extra width.

If you dont get serious into racing nationals and such i wouldn't hesitate to get them.... than again if you wanna get serious you would wanna go with long travel like i want to.

The newer ones come with sealed heims that probably don't squeak like mine do if i dont spray them down with dry lube occasionally.

I wanna say I've seen them cheaper:confused:

All im doing with the quad is racing MX and TT locally, and MAYBE one or two nats if can afford to make the trip to them.

That kit comes with the arms, SS brake lines, and rod ends I know.

I would have to look at the auction again.

It's gonna be a couple of months before I would have enough money, but I will be on the hunt for a decent front end.

If someone had a good front end they would let go in the 500-750 range, then I'll be looking.

Im not looking to build a top notch all out race quad. Just a quad that will be competitive and durable.

I would not buy them! First of all they are all heim joints and they squeak and wear out fast! Also way too many adjustments, you will have a heck of a time getting them set up!

Spend the extra cash and get some Housers

Easier said than done when your 16 footing bills to help out your struggling parents, AND trying to stay in the sport that you love with every fiber of your being.

ja jajajajajajajaj junk units!

hahah

in all seriousness, save your cash, the heims wear out in a month or two of riding and there not cheap, so youll easily have the cost of a set of laegers or houser into them in the first season

ride stock and save your $$ or pick up a used set on here of a name brand

Why on earth would anyone want 12 point adjustability? I dont get it...

I'd never buy arms that used heims as frame attach points on the LOWER arm... those will fail eventually because of the abuse the lower arm sees.

They are junk. I bought a set for my old 400ex. I put them on, went to the Ironman race. First lap, 2nd gear half throttle, caught a tree with the outside edge of the tire, BAM trashed!!!!!!!!!!!. They wouldn't even return calls. When I did get a hold of them they told me it was my fault. WOW GREAT PRODUCT AND CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!!!!

Though many a-arms will survive a small encounter with a tree....no one at ASR told you to hit the tree. They're a-arms not bumpers. I would say it sounds like theres no liability on their behalf either.

I understand that they "didn't tell me to hit a tree", but if an a arm can't stand a little brush with a tree there's not much that it would be able to stand. Yes i admit it's my fault cause i hit the tree but if can't build an arm that will stand a beating then don't sell it. i've hit trees harder than that with stock arms and nothing happened and it was a straight on hit

I dont think any a-arm is going to stand up to a tree at 25 or 30mph.

Looks like im going to give them a try if I wind up keeping the 250r.

Im going to put the a-arms, shocks, and complete rear end from my 02 400 on it (it'll require some rigging, but its temporary) and see which one of the two I like better.

I might sell both of them and try and find myself an 05 or 06 YFZ thats already got good suspension and not much done to the engine for 3500 or so..

I think I'd buy Wicked arms before I bought another set of ASR arms. The stock Heims are garbage. My lower joints had play after a few rides, so I had them send me a pair of their best Heims for free. It's been fine since then, but they are still not something I'd buy again. If you need a set of cheap arms, look at Wicked on eBay, or find a used set of quality arms. Stay away from arms with Heims in the ball joint locations and lower frame mount locations.

Contact Burgard Rep here on the site and go with the Burgard A arms. Ball Joints instead of Heims and solid lower pivots instead of threaded heims to snap.

I can second Burgard. I recently got a set of A-arms from them and am VERY happy with the results. Quality product and fast shipping!

Most of you guys are complaining about the lower a-arm mounts. However, I have seen set of just the adjustable uppers for the LTR by ASR for an excellent price. Any thoughts on how those might perform/hold up?

even walsh used hiems in their lower a arms mounts on the 400ex front end.
