Part outs almost always net more money, but often it takes a while and you are left with a lot of parts to get rid of at the end.

I'm not sure what price you are looking to get, but the upper spectrum of fully built R's tend to go for $5500-$7500. Yours has a lot of goodies but not enough to command those prices IMO. Without knowing all the parts and specs I'd say $4000 but west coast prices may be different than east.

About the same thing as what you have I've seen priced at $3000 here.

If you part it, I'm looking for a nice pedal like that and would like more info on the shocks.

why are you sellin?

i'd say 5-6 grand maybe? i'd love to buy it in a heartbeat if i could sell my 450r asap but i highly doubt that.

The reason I'm selling or parting out is that I own a buisness and I'm really to busy to ride. I love the R to death , but it's just sitting in the garage never getting used...

Nice bike. Sorry to hear you are getting rid of it or parting out. If I were you I'd find a storage place and forget about until you are ready to ride again. These are getting harder and harder find like yours.

But, If you do part out what do you want for the motor/pipe? (I didn't read the whole thread)

I'm going to post a partout tomorrow. I'm thinkng $300 + shipping for the ESR TRX5R pipe and silencer. Motor are you talking complete? Or just bottom or top?

Complete motor... the whole she-bang. I'm toying around with the idea of droping a new motor in mine, and keeping my stock low-hour 89 motor on the shelf.

Take it for what it's worth, but if you don't NEED to sell it - like desperately need money now, I'd say don't.

Like Troybilt said good R's are hard to find and if you spent all that money to get it right, even if you find a decent one for $2000 you'll have more into by the time you get to your stage.

On the other hand, if you are looking to get a new machine down the road if you decide to get back into it then parting out will obviously get a better return.

Its just a shame to me, to see someone spend so much time and money building a perfect dream quad like this one. Only to tear it apart and sell if off. I can understand the way the economy is now, that people need cash. I don't blame you one bit.

Hell I pretty much ride mine once a year and the rest of the time it sits collects dust and takes up garage space. But I like the fact that I own a piece of history and an icon in the quad industry.

I wish I had half of the things I sold off, just cause I wasn't using them at the moment. For instance, and perfectly mint 69 firebird with 30k miles. Man I wish I had that back now!
