Shifter WTF?????

well i hopped on my 400 tonight and started down the road for a night ride and i went to shift into 3rd gear and the shifter lever spins all the way around and wont change gears whats up with this???

Mostlikely the bolt that tightens the shifter to the shaft got loose which cause the shifter to have slack and eventually strip the splins in the shiftlever and/or the shaft.

I think its something like a 12mm socket and turn it to the right. It should be free

you might have stripped the splines if so you need a new shifter shaft won't be to expensive if you can work on it yourself

yea thats a common problem, we always carry a spare shifter incase it happens during a ride. really easy fix.

its fixed thanks for all the help guys it loosened up and slip almost off the Shaft but now its back on and tight

also its 10mm btw
