when i try and kick start my quad it kicks back on me. It feels like it's firing to early. I am running stock cdi and coil, replaced the stator before this started happening.Could it be that i need to run higher octane fuel if my compression is to high.

hehe, better get use to it man, the ol 250 is just like that. You can turn your bars to the left to make sure you dont hit your knee on them, but give it a good kick and it should not do that.

That is the problem with cranking the bike at 20+ degrees of advance. I would suggest a programmable ignition for the oem setup for a cr250 setup if it bothers you. Race gas will not help it.

Don't crack the throttle until the last 1/4 of the kick stroke. This has always worked well for me. I might get a little kickback, nothing serious, maybe 1 out of 10 times and this is on a 240 psi 310 motor with stock ignition components.

If your bike is right you should not even have to touch the throttle when staring a 2 stroke. just choke and kick.

^^^ True, most of the time I don't even have to choke mine even when its cold and will fire up first kick. It's all about having it all tuned in good and keeping up with the maintainence.
