ive been talking to my buddy with the arctic cat that i ride with and weve been toying with the idea of getting an ammo box and attaching it to the frame behind the seat, on the part where it hangs past the end of the plastics. so i was thinking of bolting it down through that ring thats welded onto the right side, and then attaching a bracket infront of it and 2 on the other side, perhaps something like a U bolt. just to keep things in, tire inflation and patch stuff, misc items that can break. some tools. things that id rather not carry in my camel back. anyone done soemthing similar or have pics of something like this?

my airbox is my storage. it contains, 2 tire repair kits, a flashlight, co2 tire inflation kit, a bunch or tools in a micro baggy, and i think i have a few more things i just cant remember. and in the real storage tube thing, i have my registration, allen wrench, knife, 400ex tools. but if u wanna carry ammo thats a differant story

So you're just leaving tools in your airbox with the filer in there and its not causing any issues? And where's this storage tube? Don't wanna carry ammo just random junk I might need

nwa everything is packeged nice and clean in the airbox, i made sure to leave enough room for the K&N to flow freely all the way around. and the tube should be right next to the battery held on with 2 bolts to the frame

Right on. I'm gonna need a lid like that or ill just have to make one. I've drilled out my lid but wouldn't mind it open all the way. What's the material like on that lid? Is it a mesh screen or a fabric of some kind?

its like the outerwares fabric kinda material, i bought it on here, some guy cut out the stock center of the lid and epoxyed a flat outerwheres fabric over it

I've been thinkinof doing the same thing with my lid. The lid is more to buy than I wanna spend. Any pics of it?

uchi,

Got my Outerwears cover for $12.00 from Dennis Kirk. Cut out the top of my lid, & made a frame to bolt the O.W's to the top of the lid. Works great. I also got an extra lid to swap out when washing. On the storage box, that's a good idea, I did the 3" pvc pipe bolted off my front end . Let me know & I will put it on & take a couple pics if you would like to see it.

Oh yeah. I like that. Although I might use that idea on the rear instead. The bracket looks good for the screen. I'm gonna see if I can find just the screen and make something like that for myself. Thanks for the pics

Definitely cheaper modding the lid yourself than buying one. I'm sure you'll come up with something nice. Let us see what your lid & storage box when you do it. Might try to do one that way for mine. :macho

When do you plan on doing the lid mod ?

i know this isnt exactly what you are talking about but i wanted a way to carry a cooler or whatever on my 400 so this was what i rigged up. i dont even carry the tools on mine anymore i lost the cover to the tube so now they just sit on a shelf in the garage with the rest of my tools

thats a sweet bracket. i dig it. i wear a camel back that holds 2 liters of water so i get my hydration there. but i need tools and such and i like these ideas.

also i cheked by the battery and i cant find the tube that was mentioned here, do you have a pic of what it looks like and where it is?

yeah 6pack racks r ok but i built mine with scrap iron laying around, it will hold a cooler that will fit 18 cans plus ice, and also works as a rear bumper to get pushed through mud which i have to do frequently, thereby saving my tail light and exhaust tip, and it keeps thing from coming over too far on a wheelie, and after reading this i found an ammo can and it will fit in there too so if i needed to carry tools and such i could strap that in there

its a funny thing, ive got a lenth of angle iron in my work shop. i might have to get to my old mans place and get something welded up to hold an ammo box or cooler or something that i can toss my junk into :D

thanks for the help. i should be fine as far as measurements go. ill just measure to whatever i end up using. a plastic ammo can would be great. there used to be an army surplus place around here but the guys a douche and who knows if hes still around. ill have to look into it
