question 1) this may be a stupid question and i am pretty sure of the answere but... is there a rev limiter in my 250ex? and if there is, it is in the cdi right?

2) is there a way that i can modifie(sp)it/ take it out?

i am asking this because i think that i am hitting it in 1st and 2nd gear ever since i added my pipe, filter and jets.3rd 4th and 5th are all fine, but it seems like i am bogging out in 1 &2.

I took my airbox lid of and it was fine again, is there another problem? i really dont want to run w/out an air box lid 'cuse i ride in real dusty conditions.
thanks
sorry for the long post but im stumped

Yes there is a rev limiter on the 250EX, I bump against it on my brothers all the time, and yes it is in the CDI, you could take it out but I wouldnt recommend it. As far as the bogging, your jetting may be off with the new pipe and filter.

yes there is a rev limiter on the 250 its in the CDI box like 01TRX300EX posted. i've hit mine in the first 4 gears. i think its limit is a little over 9k rpm.

I'm not real sure with jetting, I've never had to mess with mine, since from what I've read somewhere, everything comes with jetting for sealevel, and I am only 8ft. above, so I couldnt help you there, but if you didnt jet it properly after the pipe and filter you will need to.

you could possibly just gear up a bit and put on smaller rear tires, couldn't ya?
That seems like a senseable solution to me...

In dirtwheels they had a 250 with a graydon pipe and kandn and no airbox lid with 20 inch tires and they used a 112 so id say go up from where u r

112 is too high. i use a 107.5. i talked to the guy at Honda. i have a pipe filter and removed air box lid and an Outerwear over it. take the airbox lid off and buy a 10 dollar outwear. that'll take care of that problem. there is a rev limiter. it is at 8,650. i'm pretty sure that's it. when i first learned wheelies i was hitting it now i can do them ni 2, 3 grand no prob. there is even a rev limiter on teh TRX90. i've hit rev limiter in all of the gears. it DOES do around 50 top. i'm pretty sure that all Honda's have rev limiters installed in the engine. i wouldn't reccommend taking it out either. then you could accidently blow your engine. there goes 400 bucks.

the rev limiter is at 8750 rpm. DO NOT take it out because this is a pushrod engine that is NOT meant for high rpm's and so if you rev it too high you'll blow it up.if you do decide to play ignorant and take it out anyway, have fun buying OEM parts :devil . the 250ex shouldn't need to be revved that high anyway, as it makes the most power in the middle rpm's. keep in mind this is a 250ex, not a 250r.

you might need to go richer on the jetting. make sure your pilot jet and needle are correct with all the new air-flow. i know my jetting has been kinda off for a little while.
