Tranny Drain plug is a PITA

Other than dropping the foot peg but i'm using it to hold the quad up so thats out of the question
sucky place to put it
http://www.aww-kittah-aww.com/up/public/67899/P5190510.JPG

broke it free
http://www.aww-kittah-aww.com/up/public/67898/P5190509.JPG

Flex extension
this worked for a while
http://www.aww-kittah-aww.com/up/public/67900/P5190511.JPG

then it was back to a simple wrench till i could take it out with the fingers.

Damn thats some nasty tranny fluid wtf goes in red comes out black
http://www.aww-kittah-aww.com/up/public/67902/P5190513.JPG

Oh and a skid plate suckes the tranny fluid just pools up on it and drains everywhere :fuu:

Took it outside to let the oil out of the skid plate (dont worry i dug up the dirt and put it in a bucket)

I'm not trying to be rude dude but i dunno where your going with this bike. you have a 2wd 450r designed and build to spend all day on the mx track....you put mud tires on it....you cut a hole in the airbox and put a chunk of screen door over it...so your gonna go out mudding and trail riding(with water holes) on a 2wd bike with a basically open airbox? what are your intentions?

thoae tires are ment for sport quads!!! hell. If i had a extra set of wheels i would grab a set for when its muddy.

Leave the guy alone. No where does it say that you cannot go mudding with a R.

I've never rode mx and have you ever rode a 2wd sport quad in the woods? YOu make it sound like they wont go anywhere. I've only had a few places i couldnt get through with the quad.

You're wasting your time trying to tell this guy that these tires are for sport quads. Me, and possibly you, and maybe a few others tried in another thread. :o Some people just seem to know it all?

Your turning a racing quad into a mud machine dosen't make much sence and I would make fun of anyone with those tires on their 450R. Its disrepectful to the Honda racing heritage what a waste. And I notice you don't clean the dirt from around the oil fill plug. Those tires are going to be hard on your clutch.

If you like mudding so much and thats all you do why not get a renegade you can do wheelies on them and burnouts and get any kind of mud tire you want and they are just as fast top end as the race bikes.

Also the picture you have with the 450r with mudlite on it looks pretty stupid thats what your bike is going to look like. you need to wash your bike before you start working on it by the looks of it I would say you have gotten dirt in the motor you can see by your picture all the dirt around the oil fill plug you need to clean around that before you open it and when you open it clean around it again making sure nothing gets into the motor and use some soap when you clean your bike. You have a 450r an amazing machine treat it like a 450r.

thats right its not a 450t or a 450M

Seems you are the only one here with no common sense...I guess it's you thats lost, since you stumbled into this thread. The 300ex section is in the under 350cc section, again, you must be lost. I do however know why you wouldnt run the "mud tires" on YOUR quad......It wouldnt have the balls to rotate em. :p

dude, why are you being such a d!ck, untwist your panties and grow up, just because the 450r is designed as a race bike doesnt mean someone else cant take it on the trails. theres some people that race UTVs, are you gunna give them a hard time too? If you idiots think a 450r doesnt have enough balls to turn 20x10x9 tires your ****ing stupid. even if theyre mud lights theyre not that heavy. And the 450 puts out alot of power so you musnt have one if you think it cant turn those.

As long as old dude isn't using welfare/food stamps to pay for his quad and his mods it's nobody's business what he does with it.

The only thing I don't agree with him on is that a trail quad has to be dirty and rusty. It's very simple.....hand wash fairly soon after EVERY ride and keep it properly lubed.

It's very simple.....hand wash fairly soon after EVERY ride and keep it properly lubed. it stays lubed but 90% of the time after a trail ride it stays in the back of the truck dirty till i ride the next day or its at the summer lake house where i cant wash it. As for the rust its only the parts on the nerfbars that seem to be rusty i dont see any other spots. I could take a wire brush to it but i'm not that worried about it and no a trail quad does not need to be dirty or rusty i'll agree with you. And i'm far from being able to use welfare lol thanks for the backup on that one

awj,

I really like that front bumper. I don't use a pressure washer on my quad so my decals are still intact so I'll just leave them. I do like the all black look though. As far as the tires, I've never had anyone comment that they are on backwards.

I have not switched tires yet. I've got some ITP XCR's mounted on ITP baja wheels in my shopping cart on Rocky Mountain ATV's website but I haven't pulled the trigger yet. I actually like the stock tires and still have 60-65% tread left.

Hes going to go throu a clutch real soon with those mud tires on it and the pics you take just show how much you don't take car of your bike. a 2x4 bike is for 2x4 stuff you like to do 4x4 stuff is this making any sence.

4x4 stuff
-Ramming trees
-Mudding
-Rough Trails
-Small jumps
-Deep water

2x4 Stuff
-Not Ramming trees
-Avoiding mud
-Long Wheelies
-Large jumps
-Avoiding deep water

You fall under the 4x4 catagory

I love road riding in blizzards. :) Only problem is that when it builds up so much that you get stuck in the road its a total pain to get home. And nice double bags. I was drinking a fey of those myself yesterday.

And yea down here they plow the roads the second it starts snowing so the most we deal with is maybe 2-4 inches at a time. Up in vt they dont give a sh1t and will wait for 6+ inches before touching the roads lol.

I just started reading thru this thread, and man a couple guys posting here must be on their period or something. Who are they to dictate what kind of tire someone should run; pull the tampon out of your butt and leave the guy alone.

I wouldn't necessarily put mudlites on my quad, but that's not to say it's not right. I bet they would churn the goo pretty good. I guess if 450r's aren't meant for trails or mud, I shouldn't get my 250r anywhere near anything wet or sloppy. I tell ya what, my 250r makes it thru some nassssty slop with razr2's that my 400ex would've had issues with on holeshots...what's your expert reasoning on that????? One good buddy of mine has 22" realtors on his quadzilla...man what a dissapointment that is!?!? I was under the impression that the GNCC series involved a lot of trails and nasty conditions and I sure see a lot of 450's in there; man those guys must have it all mixed up, they should be on tamer machines like a 300ex.

I've ridden all kinds of atv's, from 250x, 350x, quadzilla, 400ex, yfz450, banshee, raptor, 250r, warrior, grizzly, you name it. I've never spent a minute on a mx track- it's just not my cup of tea.

I think the machine definitely helps, but unless you have an unlimited supply of money, you have to rock what 'ya got and make it work; the rider can make up for a lot.

If i dont like them then i'll go back to the Holeshot HD's like before but you gotta give things a shot once before you write them off. And **** if i cant take my 450r in the woods you better keep that 250r out of there too lol. Pics of the 250? I lvoe them we rode with a guy whos was running like **** thing was mint. He was so pissed by the end of the ride he sold it to my friend for $300. My friend tore the carb off and lol cleaned it and the thing ran awesome. Rode it once but for me a 2 stroke in the trails is a nightmare thing was insane though and he sold it the next week for just over 3k i think. He made a nice investment with that one.
