Ok...I cut the 4 wires from my key switch and spliced the red and black together and the green and black/white stripe together. Wouldn't start. So I spliced all 4 wires back into the key switch...turn on the key push the starter button and nothing!
I also cut the neutral and engine temp light wires to reposotion them and spliced them back together. Does that have anything to do with my problem? What did I do wrong?!

Maybe the green and black with a white stripe doesn't go together. Unhook them and see if you blew the main fuse.

You said you hit the starter button, which means when you spliced the black and red wires together, the "key" would have been on, killing the battery. Most people I know leave the key intact on electric start models.

i hope its just a dead battery...that would be nice.
if i did blow a fuse, where is the fuse located so i can replace it?

Yeah u need to leave the key on the electric starts.

And there is a fuse under the cover on top of the battery. Not sure if there are any others.

I didn't realize you had an ER when you asked about getting rid of the key. On an ER you either need the key or have to install an on/off switch for the battery not to go dead.
