You guys got something going this weekend at Log Rd...don't you?
How's the track for 70 riders? Do they run a big track?

there might be Tom but Log Road is mo longer part of our series\district. Log road is known for a challenging but easier corse. Should be good for minis.
Wwe do run 70's on the big tracks in District 14 though....and they ROCKED Portland this last weekend!

Thanks, for the info. We were talking about coming up there to race this weekend. I want to make sure it's a good/big track. Too long of a drive for a mini track.

The website is sjoproductions.com they have the schedule, classes, the rates, and times for sign-up, and any other info you could need. There are 8 youth quad classes, and the tracks are a mild supercross set up they are very mini quad friendly. If you decide to go look me up, I will be there to help out.
Tom @ Kids on quads.
Tom- Are there any pics of the Muskegon track?

Hi Kim, if you go to the sjoproductions.com website on the lower right side there are a list of the sponsors, go to the jq entertainment link, then press 2010 motocross, and pick the muskegon race photos, they will be in there. they also have pictures on there of all of this years races, so you should get a good idea of the type of tracks they have. Let me know if I can help in anyway.

Once again, everyone I talked to had a good time at fridays race. There was a new addition to the races this past weekend TV COVERAGE, wood tv was at the race, filming every moto. I will try to find out when and where it will be showing, and I will post it here. We again had more riders on quads, and I hope we will continue to grow, and bring back quad racing to where it used to be.

Why don't you come out sat, we have 2, 50 classes for your kids, and you can ride the expert class. Freemont is an easy track, and great for the kids.
So who is going to Polkadots? We will be there!! Leaving Friday night..its a few hr drive for us.

It was a great weekend at the chorlotte race, full gate in the expert class, almost a full gate in the beginner class. Many of the mini classes were represented, and a big croud of spectators to cheer them on. This weekend is going to be crazy with 3 races, 2 at Hastings, on the 22nd, and 23rd, and 1 on the 25th, in muskegon which is a day race. I hope to see you there, this summer is shaping up to be a lot of fun.

there was an incident in the pits with 2 quad advance riders.

For how hard this SJO series was pushed, its hard to believe that one incident undoes all of that. It must have been a very big deal. Please explain...

07-30-2010, 09:03 AM
Lets just say that I was wrong about the promotors, and if the district needs my help, I will be glad to help in any way I can. It could have been a good thing for the kids, but I have issues with the saftey of the adult riders, because of the promotors lack of rules, two advanced riders went to the hospital, with serious injuries, and there is no protection via a set of rough riding rules, to protect the riders. There are 2 riders there, that think ramming is racing, and we have to much invested in our team to risk any more injury.
djdfairchild
07-30-2010, 09:39 AM
i guess the incident in the pits had nothing to do with it. there was a bad crash in the quad advanced class, i just saw the after math not the crash. so i can't comment on why the crash accured.

07-30-2010, 11:37 AM
Well that is seriously too bad. There was a lot of work and promotion put into the quads being a part of that. Does that mean there will be no more quad classes at the SJO races?
If the SJO quad racers want some place to race, lets remind everyone that we are only 1/2 way through our D14 ATV Championship series with the next racing being Aug. 8th, (D14 race on Aug 7th too) at Battle Creek. We have lots of minis this season!

quads are still going to be at the sjo i think. its just not going to be promoted by kids on quads anymore. hopefully Tom will help with the d-14 promotion now, he seems like he really cares about getting the youth classes up again.
As far as SJO goes i've done 6 races now, The first track i went to was Fremont, it was really small but had 3 doubles daniel could make, and he really enjoyed it ,we've been to muskegon and liked that track, been to hastings liked it and holland and really liked it. really no competition there for the 70cc or 90cc classes daniel has been the only 70cc there and only 2 125cc extreme quads.there are about 5 or 6 50cc limited drrs that run. I can say that the big jumps have helped daniel alot with confidence and with hitting the doubles, and has helped him fiquring out how to passing the 50cc riders. hopefully it will help at the big tracks. the other nice thing is its quick. you can get there a 4:45, the mini quads usually practice at about 6:00 and the whole field of usually around 30 classes is done by 9:30.

Fairchild I know youre coming to the D14 events (BTW is that you who was at PTR sunday?) but we would LOVE to have them all. The mini thing (as YOU know) has been getting real successfull for D14.
ANyone listening and on the fence give us a try!!!

i have been telling the sjo riders they should give district 14 a try.no i wasn't at ptr sunday, i decided to stay home and goto battle creek. i hope the #'s can stay up at the d-14 races, i really enjoy seeing all the mini's at the track. i am going to try an do more of them next year. if they can keep the numbers up consitantly why goto nationals. the only reason i can see running nationals is to get good competition. but if we can have that in state that would be great.if there is anyway that d-14 could bring some races down closer to the indiana and ohio lines maybe they could get more ohio and indiana riders. and maybe next year not have races when northern nationals are going on. not that someone new should be telling anyone what to do, just some things i've noticed.
were going to watch red bud tomarrow, hope to see all the d-14 riders doing well.

Quadscrib took the words out of my mouth :D
But a few of us have done the Jan and Feb series in Ohio inside the summit building. Its a tight track compared to a MX track, but it broke up the winter a bit.
