alot of the stuff i ride in is silt so i dig the extra grip, look down a few posts and you will see pics of the tires i had and the tires i am going with, i have seen the razrs but the prob is there 6 ply, really heavy tire. i have only one plug in my tire and these are 2 plys with over 6 months of riding , a weekk at hatfield mcoy and a the rest pretty much tower city in pa

for mx they suck cause they are so big but trails they kick serious arse

im lookin for a tire thats best at hillclimbing.... also i take the road alot more to get to my favorite riden spot

so i need a tire that wont wear down easily, and will be able to take road abuse, and that is really good at hillclimbing

redrider ex
01-03-2003, 04:53 PM
well thats all i do is hill climb and i have had the stock tires holeshots and razrs and the razrs wear the best and hook up the best for climbing .

You can get Razrs in 4 ply also. I love my razrs, I have them front and rear, they hook up everywhere except soft powdery snow, ice, or in extremely sloppy mud. If I was gonna order new tires tommorw, id order razrs

my last set of razrs lasted me 3 and a half years and they had alot of miles on them they don't wear out quick.

i think redrider just answered your question. i also have a 3 year old pair if razrs and are just now getting bald. but they have only 1 plug in the right front. they have lasted 3 years so i guess they wear pretty slow.

redrider ex
01-03-2003, 06:29 PM
yea thats the same for me i only had one plug in my front left tire

my friend shawn has had a set of rear 22x11x8 xct's on his blaster for a while. at least 2 years, and they still look pretty new. i would rather have the holeshot xcr 20x11x10's than my razrs. but i'm gettin the new kenda klars cause i want 18's.

redrider ex
01-03-2003, 06:41 PM
i had some regular hole shots and they only lasted me about a year

DaveEX7
01-03-2003, 06:53 PM
so the razrs are better than ANY KIND of holeshot??

redrider ex
01-03-2003, 06:59 PM
I don't know if they are better than the other hole shots but i know razrs are better to me.

Thanks,

i have both razrs on one 400 and holeshots on the other and the razrs have lasted longer and climb better to me and they also take a curve better to.

DaveEX7
01-03-2003, 09:00 PM
i think im gonna go wih the Razrs, because not only will i save $40, but u guys say there a better tire than holeshot

but if u have any other suggestions about tires keep them comin

Thanks for all your help guys,
Dave

Razr 2s are kinda like the orriginal Razr tread pattern, except alot more aggressive. Bigger, taller, wider-spaced lugs. I'd say they sound like the tire for you. 22x11-9 rear 23x7-10 front

DaveEX7
01-04-2003, 12:02 PM
do u have a pic of them??

and do them make them im 22"front, and 20"rear?

jb400exxx
01-04-2003, 12:04 PM
yes they have a 20 rear and 22 front. they look like a good tire.

DaveEX7
01-04-2003, 12:04 PM
where did u see these tires at?

DaveEX7
01-04-2003, 12:10 PM

DaveEX7

are they gonna wear down easily when i climb and use the road???

TRX_Thumper
01-04-2003, 12:44 PM
ive owned both of these tires....as far as traction all around...u cant beat the holeshot period...thats my opinion...the razrs slide better and you can control your slide better for moto x and such but holeshots are the woods tires for me...as far as wear ...the difference is so little its not worth it...either tire..your going to be happy with...however ive not had any experience with the razr2...but puttin em on a 250ex.. u dont want a 6 ply tire...

DaveEX7
01-04-2003, 02:26 PM
so u think theyre both equal in hilclimbing and wear down???

how about speed, which one would be better for more speed/acceleration or are they equal there also

the razr 2's were designed for xc, so i bet they are really good on trails and hill climbs. they have really deep treads on them, and i think they are made of a harder compound so they should last you a while. if i was to get 20 ich tires i would get them.

i ride with redrider ex, and i have razr 6 ply all the way around, and ive had them half a year and cant see any physical wear, but i know i prolly damaged em mentally!! :devil

hey, the best tire for hillclimbing is the Ohtsu Radial(if i spelled that right) That is the stock tire that came on the 400ex. They are light, hook up real good, give a smooth ride and are really the best for hillclimbs. All the guys that run the BEaverdale Hillbimbs use em. (well, the ones that win) I have used cut turf-tamers- loved them, but worn fast too. didn't do real good in deep mud, and were stiff, not as good a ride as the radials. I have holeshots too. they were good for racetrack conditions and worn fairly easy as well. one summer and they were showing good bit of use. There are alot of types of holeshots, depends on what you plan on doing, and what ya spending. A friend had the razrs and they worked good too. Most of the tires out today, will do a fine job for you. the radials in my opinion would be my choice, they are pretty cheap, so not a big deal to replace with new one each year. you can even sell the old ones to a buddy for $20 at half tread. :devil There are a few drawback to them though... they get holes pretty easy, 2ply. and for you, runnin the roads, nope, they will be gone fast as *****. oh well, just buy any, they are all good.

P.S. look at the fronts on my 350EX, Crappy Shredders, DO NOT BUY THESE TIRES!!! They came with the rims I bought, so put em on, way crappy!!!!!!

DaveEX7
01-04-2003, 07:50 PM
i thank you for ur help by sayin the stock 400 tires..... but im gettin a 400, so they arent gonna help, and im not gonna spend ne thing on the 250 cause im tradin it in

so im lookin for a tire after my stock 400s tires are worn down

Dave400ex

I like my Razrs, but if I did it again I would try out the Razr 2's.

warrior man- how long have u had ur razrs??

they worn down alot??

Dave400ex
01-04-2003, 08:09 PM
I have had them since October and they look the same as the day I got them besides being dirty. I have even rode on the road some. If you are going to ride on a road a lot I would not get them.

DaveEX7
01-04-2003, 08:17 PM
well its about 8 miles on the road, and i go that way once a week to my favorite riden spot and then i ride around there then i have to go about 8 miles back on road (the entire trip is about 15 miles)

but this is only about once or twice a week, do u think i should try the razr 2's???

Dave400ex
01-04-2003, 08:18 PM
Yeah I would try the Razr 2's. They look awesome...

Your welcome. And After the original stockers are worn out, I would replace them with a new set of Radials. After you ride them, you will see how good they work.

I'd get either Razr's or Holeshots, the radials cost quite a bit ecspecially if you try to buy them through Honda, not to mention the wear out pretty quick from what I have seen.

DaveEX7
01-06-2003, 04:06 PM
so because of the outrageous price per tire on the holeshot, im gonna go with the Razr 2's

RM doesnt charge 40 for shipping either. i ordered rear razrs and front bandits and shipping was 20 bucks from RM to mississippi. i think RM is in Utah or somewhere over there too.

Get a set of ITP XCR's for the rear. They are a great all around tire and they slide better than the stocks. I run 4.5 to 5 PSI depending on where I ride.
