i haqve a cdb oversized oil tank and have a few questions for those of you out there with oversized tanks

do they use ur stock dipstick? and do you check oil just as you normally would on ur dipstick?

how much extra oil does it actually hold?

how much total oil does it hold?

i think they come with their own cap for the tank but i am not sure. it may even have a dipstick with the tank. i would call and ask the company before you buy one cause they should know for sure. steve

Always wondered what are the cons to a bigger oil tank? Do they keep the 400's running a bit cooler?

Just seeing if they're worth the money

I think it makes a bit of a difference since there is a bit longer time before it goes back into the motor. I would like to actually see some before and after temps to really find out. steve

From what I have heard it doesnt help much with cooling it just takes longer to warm up and uses more oil to fill up. It wouldnt be a bad thing to have more oil you know your not running out while riding. But the extra quart every oil change for what it does wouldnt be worth it to me. For the price go get a bigger oil cooler and/or a fan.

The advantage of holding more oil is that you can go longer between oil changes, because you are using more oil to lubricate the same amount of parts.
