hello friends, I ride a 2007 450r, today i drilled two 2" holes in the rear of the air box lid near the stock hole. I have a K&N filter, dyno jet kit, and a HMF slip-on. It feels like its getting the air its been starved of. However it is bogging a bit on the top side, does anyone have a fuel/air screw recomendation or a jetting suggestion for this application? The elevation in Chambersburg, PA is 600ft. GO PENGUINS!

umm start us off with what jets you have in it now. in my 04 i have a 180 main, 40 pilet, stock needle position. i have a sparks full system, i run no lid tho. i also have the dyno jet system, and a k and n filter. it runs awesome. hopully that will help a bit.

for almost 5 years i've run no lid and just a filter. I've now decided to mod the lid and get a outerware for the k&n filter.

Get the K&N powerlid!! works good and its water proof unless you submerge it!! and it will actually work unlike this kids setup!

If it's bogging on top end, the air/fuel screw isn't going to help much. Since you are getting more air, you need go up on the main jet (controls 1/2 throttle to WOT). I would say a 160 main jet would get you close to where you need to be.

I just did a similiar mod to my machine, I cut 2 rectangular holes in the air box lid, and velcroed outerwears material to it (had my grandmother sew on velcro to some outerwears material I cut to size) Just installed a Sparks full system (with a spark arrester and a quiet tip I ordered from Sparks Racing) HRC needle, R@D adj. fuel screw, 45 pilot jet, started w/ a 165 main jet, K@N w Outerwear cover on the filter also. Had it out last Sunday and sounded fine all through the powerband, no backfiring, stuttering or any other hesitation. The pipe sounds very nice too, it's quiet enough to run around the yard 1/4 throttle without pissing off the neighbors, but if you get on it and blip the throttle, it sounds mean. Anyways, try coming up on your main jet size, hopefully that'll help out at full throttle.
