I just got this bike recently and every once in a while when i am climbing a hill it starts to spit and spudder.It acts like its not getting enough gas.Any info on what might be the problem would bbe great.Thanks in advance for the help.

I would clean the carb. If the float bowl was gunked up it would lose gas.

clean carb. check jets to see if they're clogged

should be an easy fix clean the carb very good and check je size stock 400ex main is 148 and pilot is 42 hope that helps

take your jets out and make sure that u can see through them. they could have junk in them. if not put diff sizes in it.

42s not the stock pilot.i put in a 42 and it had either a 38 or 40 in it before

Your right, it has 38 stock. Also I had this same problem. All of a sudden, one day my bike just started running like crap, but only at 3/4 throttle and up. Like it was not getting enough gas. Cleaned the carb, re-jetted and it worked for about 5 min. My bike sat for 5 min, I took it for another test run, ran like crap. Finally figured out that I had just a few pieces of dirt in my gas tank, that barely clogged the filter. Cleaned them out and ran great! I must have nocked the dirt loose when I took the gas tank off to clean the carb. But once it settled, it clogged again. Try draining your gas tank, spraying it out with carb cleaner and check the filter by taking off the pit-cock

Yah he needs to clean his carb but if its bogging down and hes getting to much gas he needs to change his jetting. im sure u dont know everything about 400 ex's. k knucklehead
